Creedme cuando os digo que comprarse un traje es como tener un seguro de vida: te salvará en muchas ocasiones. Ya sé que muchos de vosotros tendréis en mente el clásico traje azul marino que llevan los dependientes de los grandes almacenes y os estáis echando a temblar ahora mismo, pero tranquilos, hay muchísimas formas de llevar un traje que os darán porte, seguridad y realzarán vuestra figura.

Aquí os propongo 8 formas de ponerse un traje de cara a esta temporada de otoño-invierno.

Ya sé que parece que el clima está loco y ahora las temperaturas durante el otoño y en invierno no son tan bajas como hace unos años pero, creedme, el frío llega y lo hace de un día para otro.

Como siempre yo prestaría mucha atención a los materiales. Apuesta por la lana merina para evitar picores y alergias y asegurarse una correcta transpiración.

It’s time to face facts; summer is on the out and whatever follows next (you can never be too sure these days) is on the in. But that doesn’t mean simply bundling back up with little care for your look.

If the aim is to smarten up your transitional wardrobe for the changeable autumn months, consider layering a lightweight roll neck under your suit jacket.

Prioritise temperature-regulating fabrics such as merino wool in a subtle shade that complements your two-piece (a waistcoat is overkill here) to ensure you remain cool and comfortable.

Confieso que esta forma de llevar trajes es la que más me fascina. Hace unos años hubiese sido una aberración el combinar un traje con unas deportivas pero, gracias a marcas como Burberry o Prada, nos hemos acostumbrado a verlos en las calles y en oficinas y no pasa nada.

Ojo. La clave aquí está en la combinación de colores ( de lo contrario parecerás un hooligang) y en el tipo de traje que escogais. El traje tiene que ser slim fit y los colores no muy estridentes.

El resultado será armonioso, elegante y muy fácil de llevar.

On paper, sportswear and tailoring sounds about as harmonious as Danny Dyer at the Henley Regatta. Thanks to the likes of Burberry and Prada however, it’s slowly become a love affair of Shakespearean scope – but one that can turn into a tragedy if you don’t follow the rules.

The best approach is to layer. Slide a well-fitting track jacket – preferably from a non-football-hooligan brand – underneath your blazer for a new take on autumnal nine-to-five.

For the brave, experiment with plain a sweatshirt or zip-neck sweater in the same manner. “Plain” being the key word, here. No matter how great your new Fila sweat is, it’ll quickly tarnish Savile Row tailoring.

Sé que mis followers más “clásicos” se me van a tirar a la cabeza pero un traje con una camiseta queda muy bien en ocasiones informales, claro está.

La clave para no parecer un poco paleto entrando en una discoteca de barrio está, una vez más, en la combinación del traje y la camiseta.

En primer lugar huye de las camisetas en V y apuesta por las de cuello redondo. En cuanto al traje apuesta por los tonos grises, marrones o verdes y la hechura un poco suelta. Ojo porque si es demasiado suelta parecerás regordete y demasiado justo no podrás ni moverte. Así que opta siempre por la naturalidad.

Stick to a classic crew neck design in a block shade that chimes with your suit. So white with navy, grey with black and so on. Getting the fit right is also imperative. No matter how glove-like your suit, a too-baggy tee will add pounds to your midsection and skew that all important silhouette. Too tight, on the other hand, and you may as well be back in Pontefract snogging a 43-year-old mum of four as ‘The Macarena’ fills the dancefloor.

Antes de que alguien piense en El Fary cantando “el torito” os tengo que advertir que estamos ante una de las tendencias más innovadoras de esta temporada. Quitároslo de la cabeza y más bien pensad en Tom Jones porque ese es el estilo que vuelve ahora, el de los tardíos 60.

A mi me gusta mucho las botas Chelsie ( las que te llegan hasta el tobillo) para este tipo de conjunto. Atención porque el estilo tiene que ser tirando a Slim Fit; es la única forma que el look final quede fino y estilizado.

By channelling your inner mod – the king of cool circa 1963 – Chelsea boots can underpin a slimline suit, particularly when combined with roll necks, skinny ties and the like.

Alternatively, style your look even earlier, with a pair of Victorian-style lace-up boots for a sharp anchor to more classic tailoring.

No nos cansamos nunca de ver el color negro en nuestro vestuario, ¿a qué no? El negro estiliza, te da personalidad, seguridad y casi siempre queda bien en todas las ocasiones.Yo confieso que cuando no sé que ponerme siempre recurro a mis básicos en negro y me suelen funcionar bastante bien.

Este año la clave es “total black”; es decir optes por llevar camiseta, camisa o cuello alto asegurase que el conjunto final sea de la misma tonalidad. Esa es la clave, nada de diferentes tipos de negro; “total black”.

Sé que, a veces, es difícil conseguir ese look final pero os aseguro que el resultado final es impactante.

Despite all-black-everything’s refusal to die, wearing a black shirt or tee with a suit of the same colour is still swerved by many guys for fear of looking a bit mobster.

We’re here to silence the haters (not like that) and put our full weight behind the look, because suiting up in the dark stuff can come off seriously slick and sophisticated.

The important thing here (aside from fit) is to ensure whatever you layer under your jacket is the same shade of black. Any variation in tone will make whichever item is lighter appear as though it has faded.

Un traje de cuadros es la mejor forma de entrar en cualquier lugar y ser el centro de todas las miradas. Seguramente algunos de vosotros no os guste nada este estilo y a otros os chifle. Así suelen ser las cosas buenas, las amas o las odias sin termino medio pero es justo aquí ( en el termino medio) donde os tenéis que situar si queréis que vuestro traje de rayas luzcan en su máximo esplendor.

Hay muchos estampados de cuadros en el mercado pero cuando se trata de ser elegantes os recomiendo que mireis a los clásicos, estos nunca te fallarán.

Combina el traje con camisas blancas o azules o camisetas neutras y tendrás el look perfecto.

Suena como un acto de desesperación cuando no tenemos claro que ponernos pero, en realidad, es una opción valida como otra cualquiera. Se trata de mezclar piezas de diferentes trajes que no desentonen mucho y, de esta forma, dar un aire nuevo a nuestro outfit.

Cuida mucho la paleta de colores y tendencias para no parecer un payaso de feria; es decir no te pongas el pantalón fit y la chaqueta holgada o al revés. Utiliza tu sentido común y triunfarás.

La idea de cambiar la chaqueta del traje, es decir la parte de arriba, por otra pieza como una bomber, una gabardina o incluso una cazadora vaquera es igualmente fantástica. Esta tendencia no es nueva, la hemos visto ir y venir a lo largo de la historia de la moda hombre y es una opción fantástica para ocasiones informales.

Yo particularmente me inclino por cambiar la blazer por la gabardina ( y no exclusivamente en días de lluvia) o por una bomber. Creo que a vosotros también os gustará.

It’s a look we’ve seen nailed time and time again by the likes of Justin Theroux and Ewan McGregor. Just make sure the setting is casual enough for a solo shirt and tie combination to fly once the jacket is off (or risk overheating).

Hace no mucho nos hubiesen señalado con el dedo si nos hubiesen visto combinar trajes con deportivas pero de un tiempo a esta parte es símbolo de clase, saber estar y también de rebeldía.

La clave para que sienten bien es elegir unas zapatillas minimalistas, de color neutro, preferiblemente de piel y, por encima de todo, limpias.

Huye como de la peste de las deportivas de gimnasio, con colores llamativos o que estén muy usadas. Por lo demás adelante.

Done wrong (i.e. with neon green runners best saved for the gym) wearing casual footwear with a suit can make it look as though you’re only one Porsche away from a midlife crisis.

Yet, done properly, swapping smart shoes for a pair of sneakers looks extremely contemporary and is a perfect way to switch from on-the-clock to after-hours.

The key is to pick a ‘grown-up’ pair: minimal, neutral, preferably leather, and above all else, clean.
