Me encanta Pedro Almodóvar. Espero el estreno de sus películas como agua de mayo y las habré visto todas, pues no sé, al menos 1500 veces. Él no tiene ni idea, pero yo le tengo que agradecer muchas cosas, sobre todo el sacarme siempre una sonrisa incluso en mis peores momentos, el hacerme sentir empatía por sus personajes, el reflejar tan bien la dualidad del alma humana, el ser tan libre y que se le note, el ser, en definitiva, tan buen director de películas como es.
Quizás suene un poco exagerado, pero es verdad. Por eso cuando me enteré del ciclo de películas sobre Almodóvar del legendario Cine Doré, ni lo dudé. Me fui a a disfrutar de todas sus películas, una vez más, como si fuera la primera vez.
I love Almodóvar. I expect the premiere of his films as water in May and I have seen them all, I do not know, at least 1,500 times. He does not have a clue, but I have to thank him for many things. Thanks for making me smile at my worst moments, making me feel empathy for his characters, reflecting so well the duality of the human soul, being so free and let to be noticed, being, in short, as good movie director as he is.
It may sound a bit exaggerated, but it's true. That's why when I heard about the cycle of films about Almodóvar at the legendary Cinema Doré, I did not hesitate. I went there to enjoy all of his films, once again, as if it were the first time.
Me es muy difícil escoger una de entre todas las películas de Almodovar. Todas son únicas y tienen diferentes mensajes pero reconozco que “ ¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto?” tiene un “ nosequé" que la hace diferente al resto ( y eso que la historia es mas que truculenta).
La he visto en la tele, en video, en DVD, en mil formatos todos ellos modernísimos pero nunca en pantalla grande y sentado en un cine como tiene que ser. La película que se estrenó en 1984 sigue siendo moderna e irreverente, me sigue haciendo pensar y reír casi a la par, y su mensaje sigue intacto: ante los problemas, lucha. No te quedes quieto. Al menos, así la veo yo.
Known affectionately as la filmo and featured in films by Almodóvar, this chic art nouveau national film theatre was founded more than 50 years ago. The neon-lit foyer/café is a lively meeting place and the tiny bookshop is always full of browsers. A free, expansive, fold-out monthly programme features details of its eclectic seasons of films from the Spanish National Archive and world cinema, auter, classical and experimental productions.
Auditorium 1 (a reconstruction of the original auditorium of the Salón Doré) is an especially marvellous place to see silent movies, sometimes accompanied by live music. The outdoor rooftop cinema and bar are open - and unsurprisingly very popular - during the summer months. Be sure to get your tickets early; there are usually queues around showtime.
El ciclo de películas de Almodóvar estará en en Cine Doré durante todo el mes de marzo a un precio más que asequible ( sólo 2,5 euros). Las entradas no son numeradas así que os recomiendo que os acerqueis un poco antes para pillar entrada y hacer la cola para poder entrar a la sala.
Y es que puede que hayas visto una, dos, cinco, ocho, o incluso todas las películas de su filmografía; pero lo que aún no has podido hacer es descubrir de un tirón las claves del universo Almodóvar solamente sentado en una butaca, descubriendo esos tics, pasiones e influencias del cineasta manchego, a la vez que recreándote en su filmografía de lleno y sin ambages.
The cycle of Almodóvar movies will be at Cinema Doré throughout the month of March at a price that is more than affordable (only 2.5 euros). Tickets are not numbered so I recommend that you come a little earlier to catch entry and queue to enter the room.
You may have seen one, two, five, eight, or even all his films; but what you have not yet been able to do is to discover at a stretch all the keys of Almodóvar universe just sitting in an armchair, discovering those tics, passions and influences of the Spanish filmmaker, while recreating yourself full and unambiguous in his filmography.
