El primer aspecto que debemos tener en cuenta al comprar unas zapatillas de estar por casa es la talla. En el caso de las pantuflas, dado que carecen de talonera, es recomendable elegir una talla más de la que usamos habitualmente con otros tipos de calzado. En cambio, si apostamos por botines o mocasines, es necesario optar por la que usamos con el resto de zapatos. También tenemos que fijarnos en que la suela sea lo más acolchada posible para garantizar el confort en la pisada.
Por otro lado, lo siguiente es fijarnos en el relleno interior. Este deberá ser más o menos cálido en función de dos aspectos. El primero es el tipo de suelo que tengamos en casa. Las baldosas porcelánicas, de mármol o de gres son mucho más frías que el parqué o la tarima flotante, por ejemplo. El otro es nuestra propia sensibilidad a las bajas temperaturas. Hay hombres que se sienten especialmente incómodos cuando no tienen los pies calientes o que, por problemas de circulación, siempre los tienen congelados en invierno.
