Niebla: Si hay algo otoñal, melancólico, poético y profundamente alemán, es la pegajosa bruma matutina, un fenómeno que, según el diseñador Michael Rem, evoca tranquilidad irremisiblemente. Como pequeño homenaje a las húmedas y un poco irreales mañanas de otoño, y para encapsular el paisaje de neblina y trasladarlo también al interior, su estudio ha diseñado los maceteros Nebl (precisamente niebla en alemán).
Nebl is an intuitive and innovative planter that salutes unity and simplicity. Nebel is the German word for ‘fog’ and this exact meteorological phenomenon is the main source of inspiration for designer Michael Rem. Nebl consists of two parts: A ceramic base in which the plant is placed, and a frosted glass that is placed on the base. The glass has two openings with different sizes, which makes it possible to place the glass either high or low on the base.
Se componen de dos partes, una base de cerámica donde descansa la planta y un fanal de cristal opalino, soplado artesanalmente y con una apertura circular en su tope, que “captura”, siempre figuradamente, la niebla. La base se propone en distintas alturas y con un acabado en diversos colores neutros como el blanco, gris y negro, que acentúan la discreción.
It doesn’t come with its own fog machine; Studio Rem simply used frosted glass to recreate a misted effect, pairing it with a solid ceramic base. The height of the glass dome can be adjusted according to the two openings of different sizes.
The Nebl planter perfectly encapsulates the peacefulness of a foggy morning — and we mean that literally and figuratively. Designer Michael Rem of Studio Rem was inspired by ‘nebel’, the German term for fog. Wrapped in a mysterious atmosphere, the planter’s design is an ode to unity and simplicity.
Nebl, según Studio Rem, condensa así no solo la bruma, sino toda la personalidad de un proyecto “cauto, minimalista, pero también altamente emocional, cálido… que pretende ser sentido, con profundidad, y no solo visto, que pretende transmitir historias”. Caminando entre estos poéticos maceteros, “uno puede abstraerse e imaginarse caminando en medio de una mañana de niebla, con el aire fresco llenando los pulmones, con la sensación de soledad que imprime el no ver apenas en torno a nosotros mismos”, asegura su creador, siempre preocupado por el storytelling de sus creaciones.
Driven by the ethos of minimalism and storytelling, the Berlin-based studio create products that emphatically explore emotion. “We’re always heading to a deeper level of design,” Studio Rem explains. “So we live and breathe for this moment, when a minimum of shape, an extraordinary story and an outstanding idea combine to creat this certain kind of charm which gives all our products their character.”
