Buscando macetas para transplantar mis plantas me topé con Marie-Pier Guilmain y Maud Beauchamp, dos diseñadoras canadienses que un día, tras muchos años de amistad y muchas afinidades estéticas, deciden empezar a colaborar en determinados proyectos. Cuando este tándem se junta, conforma mpgmb, el estudio de diseño desde el cual nos van presentando sus maravillosas creaciones.
El último lanzamiento de mpgmb fascinará a los amantes de la jardinería y la decoración. Hablo de Arizona Collection, una serie de macetas, jarrones, jardineras y soportes de diferentes tamaños y formas, sobrados de estilo. Están todos hechos a mano en gres esmaltado o terracota sin esmaltar y los soportes en madera.
The Arizona Stoneware Collection is a set of limited edition vases, pots and planters. Each piece is a one-off and was handmade in Montreal, Canada created by mpgmb. Established in 2013, mpgmb is joint venture of Marie-Pier Guilmain and Maud Beauchamp. The pair’s longstanding friendship and complementary aesthetics became the perfect playground for intuitive, spontaneous and witty collaborations. Driven by new opportunities and challenges, the design team simultaneously works on duo and solo projects. In each of these, mpgmb combines its resourceful curiosity with a desire to create narrative and optimistic material explorations.
Como veis es una colección de objetos utilitarios de edición limitada muy elegante, presentada en tres tonalidades (blanco roto, gris y arcilla) y en la que las formas son las protagonistas absolutas. Cilindros ensamblados y combinados de distintas maneras, que van formando juegos geométricos muy interesantes entre los acabados redondeados y las líneas y veteados.
A mi me fascinan estas dos últimas formas colgantes perfectas para un entorno limpio y claro.Las plantas estarán más que encantadas de vivir en un ‘hogar’ tan cool como este.
Based in Montréal, Canada, mpgmb embraces a multidisciplinary approach to design, extracting and fusing ideas from a wide range of sources. The duo does not deliberately forge references; instead, it uses these to develop its own language. Maud and Marie-Pier are inspired by manufacturing processes, craftsmanship, materials, textures, proportions and forms gleaned throughout their travels. They also draw from their everyday discoveries and surroundings. Together, they create an ever-evolving and diverse set of prototypes, self-edited small series and mass-produced objects. Their functional and decorative creations range from jewelry to furniture, lighting, 2D art and beyond.
