"Formula un deseo. Escríbelo en un trozo de papel. Dóblalo y cuélgalo en una rama del árbol de los deseos. Di a tus amigos que hagan lo mismo. Y continúa deseando hasta que las ramas estén llenas de deseos». Esas fueron las instrucciones que Yoko Ono, la viuda de John Lennon, escribió hace 25 años en la instalación "Wish Tree" que inauguró en Finlandia. Ha pasado un cuarto de siglo y el árbol de los deseos de la artista estadounidense sigue recorriendo el mundo, prueba suficiente de que el sexto sentido de los seres humanos es el desear.
Si estás en Madrid, puedes comprobarlo tú mismo acercándote al Museo Lázaro Galdiano, donde ha recalado este proyecto. Sólo tienes que ir hasta allí, sentarte y escribir tu deseo. Luego cuélgalo en las ramas de los naranjos y pide, el universo lo oirá.
Una vez los naranjos florezcan, se recogerán los deseos agrupados de cien en cien y se enviarán a Yoko Ono. El destino final de ellos es la isla de Videy en Islandia, donde se enterrarán en la instalación lumínica concebida a modo de escultura e ideada por la artista para este fin y como un homenaje a John Lennon.

"Make a wish. Write it on a piece of paper. Fold it and hang it on a branch of the Wish Tree. Tell your friends to do the same. And keep wishing until the branches are full of wishes." Such were the instructions that Yoko Ono, John Lennon's widow, wrote 25 years ago on the "Wish Tree" installation she inaugurated in Finland. A quarter of a century has already passed and the American artist's wish tree is still touring the world, proof enough that the sixth sense of human beings is to wish.

Es verdad, no puedes evitar leer lo que han puesto los demás y es curioso comprobar que, en medio de esta interminable pandemia, la salud es uno de los deseos que más abunda, así como la ilusión por encontrar un trabajo. Varios han querido ir más lejos y escriben: “Vivir en coherencia”, “Por una vuelta a la madre tierra”, “Un futuro feliz para mis hijos y su generación” o “Que termine esta pesadilla de la Covid”.
En cierta forma, los mensajes son un reflejo del momento actual, en donde la incertidumbre se agarra al pensamiento. Por eso, hay muchos que piden estabilidad emocional y otros generosidad, comprensión, abundancia y plenitud. También están los que imaginan que la vida les vuelve a juntar con aquello que perdieron. Además, hay hueco para algún poeta que quiere que “resuenen ecos emocionados, plenos de sentido”, y para los que echan mano del sentido del humor con el “deseo que me toque la primitiva, que eso da mucha paz”.
Admittedly, you can't help but read what others have posted and it is remarkable to note that, in the context of this never-ending pandemic, health is one of the wishes that can be read the most, as well as the hope of finding a job. Several have wanted to go further and write: "To live in coherence", "For a return to mother earth", "A happy future for my children and their generation" or "May this Covid nightmare end".
In a way, the messages are a reflection of the current moment, where uncertainty grips the thinking. Thus, there are many who ask for emotional stability and others for generosity, understanding, abundance and fulfillment. There are also those who imagine that life will reunite them with what they lost. In addition, there is room for a poet who wants "emotional echoes to resound, full of meaning", and for those who use their sense of humor with "I hope I win the lottery, that gives me a lot of peace".
¿Y cuál ha sido mi deseo? Lo compartiré con vosotros porque, en cierta forma, lo formulé para todos. "Que todos los sueños se conviertan en realidad". Eso es lo que pedí y lo que fervientemente deseo.
Sé que mi deseo y el de miles de personas acabarán en la isla de Videy en Islandia, justo enfrente de la capital del país, Reikiavick que yo visité hace más de 20 años. Es curioso, siempre quise regresar allí y ahora, en cierta forma, lo voy a hacer.
