¿Os acordais de la canción de la película La La Land “ Its another day of sun”? Pues verdaderamente así es Los Angeles; sol, sol y más sol. Me parecía increíble estar a mediados de enero con una temperatura media de 17 grados, un solazo casi cegador y vestido casi de primavera. Es, sin duda, la temperatura perfecta para conocer un poco esta mega ciudad californiana de 10 millones de personas que a primera vista puede parecer sin alma, impersonal y descuidada pero si le dais una segunda oportunidad entenderéis perfectamente porqué es aquí donde todos piensan en que sus sueños se pueden hacer realidad.
Bienvenidos a Los Angeles.
Do you remember the song from the movie La La Land "Its another day of sun"? Well, that's really the way Los Angeles is; sun, sun and more sun. It seemed incredible to be in mid-January with an average temperature of 17 celsius degrees, an almost blinding sun and dressed as spring time. It is, without doubt, the perfect temperature to know a little about this mega Californian city of 10 million people that at first sight may seem soulless, impersonal and careless but if you give it a second chance you will understand perfectly why it is here where everyone thinks that Your dreams can come true.

Con 10 millones de habitantes, Los Angeles es la segunda ciudad más importante de los Estados Unidos. LA es una gigantesca metrópolis llena de estrellas de cine, aspirantes a estrellas de cine, músicos, surferos y mucho, muchísimo trafico a todas horas. Las zonas en las que os recomendaría que os quedaseis para que no os agobien mucho los coches son la de Santa Monica y Venice; allí estaréis cerca de la playa y hay hoteles de todas las categorías.
A Los Angeles cuesta un poco adaptarse al principio; mucha gente la odia y la ama casi en la misma proporción pero nunca deja indiferente a nadie. El transporte público es casi anecdótico por lo que vas a necesitar coche absolutamente para todo ( incluso para ir a comprar aspirinas) así que lo mejor es que te relajes, lo aceptes y ya está.
Lo mejor son las playas de Santa Monica y Venice. Todo te sonará a las películas y te harán sentir como si fueras un extra de una película de Hollywood.
Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States and the largest city in California. LA is a sprawling metropolis full of movie stars, wannabe actors, musicians, surfers, and lots of traffic. Some of the metro areas that include Santa Monica and Venice tend to be more popular among travelers as they are closer to the beach and have cheaper accommodation.
Los Angeles takes some getting used to. It’s a love/hate city for most people. You’ll need a car as there isn’t any widespread public transportation which makes it difficult to get around. The heavy traffic is typically the main thing people hate the most, so if you can get past that, you can see what makes LA such a special city.
The best is Santa Monica and Venice, everything around look as if you were a extra working for a Hollywood movie, so relax and enjoy the beautiful experience.
Ya sabeis que yo no soy mucho de recomendar sitios para ver pero reconozco que Los Angeles es un poco diferente al resto de las ciudades ya que es facilísimo perderse y las distancias tan enormes entre un sitio y otro lo complican muchísimo.
De verdad que creo que LA es la ciudad de las 101 maravillas, pero como no vais a tener tiempo para todo, hay va mi Top 10: ( por cierto el orden es totalmente aleatorio)
1. Ver el espectáculo planetario del Observatorio Griffith Park al atardecer
2. Comerse una hamburguesa de nogal en Apple Pan
3. Montaser la noria en el muelle de Santa Mónica
4. Caminar por el paseo marítimo ente Santa Mónica y Venice.
5. Tomar un cóctel en la terraza del Perch ( un local maravilloso)
6. Disfrutar de los adorables gatitos y beber bebidas con mucha cafeína en Crumbs & Whiskers
7. Escuchar jazz en vivo en The Culver Hotel
8. Hacer una caminata para ver de cerca la famosa señal de Hollywood.
9. Ir al Paseo de la Fama ( aunque es bastante cutre) y al Teatro Chino mejor por la mañana temprano.
10. Y comerse un sándwich para desayunar en Eggslut
When it comes to a city like Los Angeles, there’s more than 101 things to do here on a daily basis. But if we’re breaking it down to the cities bare necessities, the CRUCIAL things to do in LA… these would be the 10 items to check off the ultimate ” Los Angeles Bucket List”!

2. Have a hickory burger at Apple Pan
3. Ride the Ferris Wheel at Santa Monica Pier
4. Walk the boardwalk from Santa Monica to Venice
5. Have a cocktail on the rooftop at Perch
6. Hangout with adorable adoptable kitties and sip on caffeinated beverages at Crumbs & Whiskers
7. Catch live jazz at The Culver Hotel
8. Order the red velvet pancakes at the Griddle Café
9. Take a hike through Runyon Canyon
10. Have an Eggslut breakfast sandwich
Entre Santa Monica y Venice hay un paseo de más de 3 km por toda la costa que merece la pena que lo hagáis ( sobre todo porque es uno de los pocos lugares de la ciudad donde los coches no pueden pasar). No os olvideis un buen sombrero, algo de protección solar y unas gafas de sol porque el paseo es largo y el sol pega fuerte a cualquier hora del día.
Por el día encontrareis artistas callejeros, puestos de hippies, músculitos por todas pares, ciclistas, skaters, leedores de cartas, sitios donde comprar marihuana de forma legal y, por supuesto, surferos. Si queréis podéis bañaros aunque todos dicen que esa costa es traicionera y muchos no regresan después del baño ya que las corrientes son muy profundas. Aunque por el día la zona es divertida, es mejor que la eviteis por la noche. Es algo peligrosa.
On the promenade along the beach, you will find outdoor shops, sort of a flea market style: Doctor Weed who prescribes cannabis for all sorts of reason , boutiques that sell bohemian fashion items, in addition to cross all kinds of people: street performers, skaters, muscles men, fortune tellers, sword swallower, man band etc. Pretty entertaining! Another particular aspect; the famous skate parks on the beach, as seen in several movies or video games.
The waves were really big when I went, which is not always easy to take a swim. Anyway, to take a sun bath is the activity of choice here. The walls are covered with graffiti to add up to this already colorful atmosphere. Although you can walk around during the day without problems, it is recommended to avoid the beach area at night.
Como veis aunque parezca una ciudad enorme e inalcanzable Los Angeles tiene una magia y encanto que pocas ciudades americanas poseen, solo que vais a tener que encontrarla por vosotros mismos.
LA es tan original que es de las pocas urbes de Estados Unidos que posee gentilicio propio. Si los de Nueva York son new yorkes, o los de Boston bostonianos a los que viven en Los Angeles se les conoce como angelinos. ¿A que es fantástico?
As you can see although it seems a huge and unattainable city Los Angeles has magic and charm something that just a few of American cities have, only that you are going to have to find it for yourselves.
LA is so original that it is one of the few cities in the United States that has its own name. If those from New York are new yorkes, or those from Boston are called bostonians, people who live in Los Angeles are known as Angelenos. It is fantastic, isn't?
