Intrigante ¿a qué si? Es la gran caja de luz del artista taiwanés Wu Tien-Chang que da la bienvenida a MADATAC, la Muestra de Arte Digital Audiovisual y Tecnologías Acontemporáneas que se celebra cada año en Madrid y que muestra lo mejor del “videoarte” mundial ( aunque me parece a mi que la palabra “videoarte" se queda corta para describir la muestra)
Aquí para transmitir todo es importante; desde la instalación, pasando por la performance, lo audiovisual y por supuesto las tecnologías interactivas; todo cuenta para hacerte ver lo que el artista quiere contar. Para los profanos, el digital es un arte que suena a ciencia ficción pero su importancia está creciendo a pasos agigantados.
Impressive isn’t it? It’s the great box of light of the Taiwanese artist Wu Tien-Chang who welcomes you to MADATAC, the International Acontemporary Audio-Visual & New Media Art Festival that is celebrated every year in Madrid and that shows the best of the videoart world (although it seems to me that the word "video art" is short to describe the sample)
Here to convey everything is important; From the installation, through the performance, the audiovisual and of course the interactive technologies; Everything counts to make you see what the artist wants to tell. For the profane, digital is an art that sounds like science fiction but its importance is growing by leaps and bounds.
Todas estas piezas que estáis viendo son del Wu Tien-Chang. La exposición del centro Conde Duque de Madrid es laberíntica y hace que poco a poco te vayas sumergiendo en la cabeza del artista taiwanés a través de la música, los claroscuros y por supuesto las imágenes; todo remite a un Taiwán antiguo pero a la vez cercano en el que se mezcla lo real y lo imaginado.
La memoria infantil del artista se hace presente en sus obras a través de disfraces, máscaras y un atrezo especial. Además, todas sus obras están estudiadas y cuidadas meticulosamente hasta el último detalle, incluida la reacción del espectador. No te dejará indiferente.
The Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei collaborates with the MADATAC video-art festival, which is being inaugurated this afternoon at the cultural space Conde Duque of Madrid, presenting the work by the artist Wu Tien-Chang “Liquid Splendour”, an exhibition full of eastern surrealism that tries to show Taiwan’s history in a very singular way.
The work, music and images remind of an old Taiwan, but also closer, in which what is real and what is imagined are mixed. The childhood memories of the artist are present in his works through costumes, masks and special ornaments. The exhibition will be open until 5 February 2017 at Sala Bóvedas of the Cultural Centre.
El artista, como si fuera un artesano, va componiendo los escenarios, que luego filma con 30 fotogramas por segundo, para después ampliar el Tiempo de proyección a 16 fotogramas por segundo, logrando así digitalizarlo y consiguiendo que este se relaje. Este relajamiento del tiempo permite al espectador implicarse en la obra, meditar sobre la misma y crear, de este modo, una comunión espiritual entre el espectador y el artista. El resultado es completamente hipnótico e innovador.
Using mask-like artificial skin membrane, exaggerated and exotic images and a magical visual expression, Wu Tien-chang depicts the life of those in the lower echelons of Taiwanese society and the joys and sorrows of human life. Through spectacular light and sound performances, he evokes the unique spirit of the age and the peculiar mood in Taiwan during the era of post-war westernization. The skin membrane full of sensuous temptation and the dazzling magical effects he uses are capable of instantly attracting the viewer's eye.
Como os dije al principio la palabra “videoarte” se queda corta para describir MADATAC. El arte digital es una forma de expresión relativamente nueva y en gestación, cuyos artífices utilizan las últimas tecnologías como herramientas para la creación. Para estos artistas no existe diferencia entre un pincel y una paleta gráfica, prefieren Internet a una galería para difundir sus trabajos y la idea de perdurar en el tiempo no es algo que les preocupe. Son otros tiempos también para el arte.
As I told you before the word “video art” is nothing to describe MADATAC. All this through exhibitions, projections, conferences, performances, interactive installations, workshops and audiovisual concerts of great figures of the worldwide electronic art. From an interdisciplinary perspective, and merging the world of technology with that of a poetical imagination, MADATAC thus challenges conventional cinematic narratives by offering the most transformative audiovisual art in a commitment to risk and beauty.
