Me encanta vivir en el siglo XXI. Es un placer vestir como uno quiera sin ajustarse a los rígidos formalismos que sí existían con anterioridad. Con todo aún quedan algunos frentes como el eterno debate corbata sí o corbata no. Parecía que el asunto había quedado más o menos resulto a finales del siglo pasado, pero uno nuevo se abre en la actualidad ¿Debo llevar algo al cuello? ¿Qué opciones tengo? ¿Realmente dignifica estéticamente marcar la diferencia entre el tronco y la cabeza?
Y es que al igual que ocurre con el bigote y/o la barba cuando hay poco o nada de pelo en la cabeza, aquello que se lleva al cuello “rellena” con intención lo que nos falta en el conjunto total de un look. Digamos que es un foco de atención que bien dirigido puede ser muy beneficioso y mal dirigido puede ser un desastre.

I love living in the 21st century. It's a pleasure to dress the way you want without adjusting to the rigid formalities that existed before. There are still some fronts like the eternal debate tie yes or tie no. It seemed that the matter had been almost resolved at the end of the last century, but a new one is opening nowadays. CORBATA
Lo más clásico, pero también lo más complicado. Y no sólo por el tipo de nudo (aunque uno de dos vueltas siempre funciona con todo tipo de tejidos, hasta con la seda más ligera), sino porque la corbata no siempre dignifica. Si para ti la corbata es un siniestro yugo que te impone el capitalismo corporativo, sencillamente no la uses. Una corbata no debe constreñir la libertad de nadie. Bien es cierto que hay lugares, como un casino, en los que es obligatoria. Pues bien, si odias las corbatas, no luches contra tu instinto. Asúmelo, y prescinde del casino.
Pero hay más aspectos sobre la corbata que son importantes. Depende mucho de cómo sea la camisa, tanto del cuello como de si lleva botones o no. Existe un mito sobre no llevar corbata si te pones una camisa con botones; pues bien, lo mitos están para romperlos, y tiene hasta su gracia llevar corbata con un cuello abotonado porque siempre le deja un toque preppy ( o sea pijo) deliciosamente aniñado.
TIE
The most classic, but also the most complicated. And not only because of the type of knot (although a two-round knot always works with all types of fabrics, even the lightest silk), but because a tie does not always dignify. If for you wearing tie is a sinister yoke imposed by corporate capitalism, simply don't wear it. A tie should not constrain anyone's freedom. It is true that there are places, such as a casino, where it is mandatory. Well, if you hate ties, don't fight your instinct. Face it, and do without the casino.
But there are more issues about ties that are important. It depends a lot on how the shirt is, whether it has buttons or not. There is a myth about not wearing a tie if you wear a shirt with buttons; well, the myths are there to break them, and it's even funny to wear a tie with a buttoned collar because it always leaves a touch preppy (i.e. posh) deliciously childish.
PAJARITA
Dejando a un lado si está de moda o no (los clásicos masculinos no son cuestión de moda, es necesidad), la pajarita siempre hay que utilizarla en un contexto. Es la única manera de ganar puntos y no perderlos. Las bodas pueden ser un buen momento para utilizar pajarita pero sin que el detalle resulte excesivamente creativo, es decir, combinando los colores del resto del outfit y no al revés.
Aunque, realmente, el entorno de la pajarita siempre tiene un toque nocturno. Una buena pieza de tamaño mediano y de lazo (la versión clásica del tipo clip) dignifica cualquier cuello. Eso sí, cuidado con las barbas. Estamos en un momento en el que la longitud de la barba no se tiene en cuenta y hay que tener en cuenta que si se lleva pajarita es para que se vea, por lo que si tu barba te cubre el cuello (o se acerca mucho a la nuez), ¿para que llevarla? Utiliza mejor una corbata, ¡o nada!
BOW TIE
Leaving aside whether it is fashionable or not (male classics are not a matter of fashion, it is necessity), the bow tie must always be used in some contexts. It's the only way to earn points and not lose them. Weddings can be a good time to wear a bow tie but without being overly creative, that is, combining the colors of the rest of the outfit and not the other way around.
Although, really, the atmosphere to wear bow ties always has a night touch. A good piece of medium size and ribbon (the classic version of the clip type) dignifies any neck. Beware of beards, though. We are in a moment in which the length of the beard is not taken into account and we must bear in mind that if you wear a bow tie is to be seen from the neck, if your beard covers your neck (or is very close to the nut), why wear it? Use a tie better, or nothing!
PAÑUELO
Es mejor hablar de un carré, que este tipo de pañuelo maxi de seda que se identifica con la decadencia romántica del siglo XIX y que, en la actualidad, marca tendencia por divergente. Los carrés popularizados por marcas como Hermès (los inventores), Loewe o Etro, se anudan con un par de vueltas y se dejan caer a su aire encima o dentro de la camisa. Y al contrario de las corbatas o las pajaritas SI se pueden llevar con otras prendas que no sean camisas de manga larga. Un polo o una camiseta que se complementa con un pañuelo es look ganador para las épocas primaverales y estivales.
HANDKERCHIEF
I think It is better to speak of a carré, a type of maxi silk scarf that men used to wear during romantic decadence of the nineteenth century and currently marks trend for being divergent. Carrés popularized by brands such as Hermès (the inventors), Loewe or Etro, are knotted with a couple of turns and dropped in their air on top of or inside the shirt. And unlike ties or bow ties it can be worn with other garments other than long-sleeved shirts. A polo shirt or a T-shirt that is complemented with a handkerchief is a winning look for the spring and summer seasons.
PASHMINA Y/O FULAR
¿Para qué? ¿Por qué? ¿Existe algún caso en el que un hombre deba llevar este tipo de prenda híbrida?. La idea está clara, la pashmina se utiliza en entretiempo para no perder calor corporal ya que ese calor sale por el cuello hacia arriba, por lo tanto es un sabio termorregulador en las noches de verano, a bordo de una embarcación de recreo, o en algún centro comercial estadounidense con el aire acondicionado disparado.
En definitiva, una extravagancia no demasiado cómoda, pero con una cierta utilidad en circunstancias muy concretas. A evitar si se puede.
PASHMINA AND/OR SLING
What for? Why? Is there any case where a man has to wear this kind of hybrid garment? The idea is clear, some people use pashmina not lose body heat as that heat goes up through the neck, as a wise thermoregulator on summer nights, aboard a pleasure craft, or in an American shopping center with very hight air conditioning. I
n other words, an extravagance not too comfortable, but with a certain usefulness in very specific circumstances. So avoid it, if you can.
