Así de intenso se ve todo dentro de este invernadero rojo, el creado por artista belga Patrick Hamilton en el Conde Duque de Madrid.
¿Y por qué quiere que lo veamos todo en rojo? Pues porque es el color de la alerta, de los números del banco cuando las cosas van mal, de la sangre, de la pasión, de lo prohibido, de lo que no está bien, del peligro… Y rojo es el color que Patrick Hamilton ha dado a esta instalación para mandarnos un mensaje bien claro: estamos en alerta, existe peligro medioambiental y, al parecer, hacemos muy poco para evitarlo.
El invernadero rojo de Patrick Hamilton es una escultura con carácter interactivo, ya que por un lado permite verse desde afuera y también ingresar en ella y mirar desde el interior hacia el exterior. Se ha cambiado el cristal de los invernaderos por el metacrilato traslucido y el resultado, como veis en las fotos, es asombroso.
El trabajo de Hamilton se sirve de la experiencia y la historia para reflexionar críticamente sobre el futuro. En el caso de este invernadero, la obra es una llamada de atención sobre las crisis, ya sean económicas, sociales o mediomentales, como el calentamiento global.
Como no podía ser de otra manera, la escultura se encuentra en el patio más caluroso del Conde Duque, el del sur. Una instalación en un invierno que se acelera sin que nos demos cuenta a través del paso de sus días rojos, los que para Holly, la protagonista de Desayuno con diamantes, eran esos terribles “porque de repente se tiene miedo y no se sabe el motivo”.

And why does he want us to see everything in red? Well, because it is the color of alert, of bank numbers when things go wrong, of blood, of passion, of what is forbidden, of what is not right, of danger... The glass of the greenhouses has been replaced by translucent methacrylate and the result, as you can see in the photos, is amazing.
Hamilton's work uses experience and history to critically reflect on the future. In the case of this greenhouse, the work is a wake-up call about crises, whether economic, social or environmental, such as global warming.
The sculpture is located in the hottest courtyard of the Conde Duque, the southern one. An installation in a winter that accelerates without us realizing it through the passage of its red days, which for Holly, the protagonist of Breakfast at Tiffany's, were those terrible "because suddenly you are afraid and you don't know why".
