Sé perfectamente que si nos hacen una encuesta por la calle la mayoría de nosotros diríamos que importan un comino las tendencias. Sin embargo, si esos mismos encuestadores van a nuestro armario se sorprenderían al ver junto a nuestros grandes clásicos atemporales ,vaqueros rasgados, camisas con cuellos cubano y un sin fin de nuevas tendencias que ponen de manifiesto que no nos queremos ver antiguos y desfasados.
Es cierto que en las últimas paralelas hemos visto muchas excentricidades que nos las intentan meter a todas costa (pijamas para salir, zapatos con medio tacón etc) que si te gustan, adelante pero lo esencial son 5 ó 6 tendencias que son muy fáciles de combinar y muy bonitas de llevar.
Yo te las resumo; son estas.

Rayas Verticales
Todas las temporadas hay un estampado estrella que invade la mayoría de prendas, y no iba ser menos en el caso de la moda masculina: la próxima primavera-verano, las prendas para hombre se cubren de rayas de arriba abajo. Desde arriesgados blazersajustados a la silueta, que se combinan con pantalones de pinza y chalecos a juego, hasta las clásicas corbatas de seda, la raya se consolida como el must indispensable en el armario masculino los próximos meses.
Las que vais a ver hasta en la sopa son las rayas bretonas, un clásico que no debe faltar en tu armario esta primavera/verano, pero que ahora serán ahora verticales en vez de horizontales. Las más innovadoras combinan colores y tejidos, apostando siempre por los tonos navy, como el marino y el blanco, y jugando con el grosor de los estampados hasta despistar a la mirada.
Vertical Stripes
Like grimacing through rain-soaked barbecues and festivals, Breton stripes are a summer institution. But since they’ve also been hijacked by everyone from school-run mums to cocky club promoters, you could hardly call them groundbreaking.
The solution: turn them 90 degrees. The vertical stripe is officially menswear’s new go-to pattern. Seen on everything from bombers to field jackets at the global fashion weeks, there’s no denying that it was one seriously stripey season. In real life, you’re aiming for Armie Hammer’s effortless Call My By Your Name wardrobe – but take it too far and you’re one half of Bananas In Pyjamas.
The key to staying well clear of animated fruit is the size of your stripes. The best examples on show for SS18 were straight, narrow and deployed across T-shirts, short-sleeved shirts and cuffed joggers. When creating your own looks, one vertically striped piece at a time is often enough – the double vertical stripe is an advanced style move that only the most confident of men can pull off.
Looks monocolores
Por fin estilismos en un mismo tono para evitar quebraderos de cabeza. Sí, la moda nos lo pone fácil esta temporada, porque llevar prendas monocromáticas puede marcar la diferencia en más de un estilismo. ¿El truco? Elegir nuestro color color favorito y equilibrarlo en diferentes piezas. No hace falta que sea el mismo tono exactamente, pero cuanto más se asemeje, mejor.
Ya estamos acostumbrados al total look black/white, ¿por qué no aplicar esta moda a los demás colores? Los tonos neutros son los más fáciles de combinar entre sí. Es posible ir vestido de la cabeza a los pies en color gris o beige y conseguir un resultado muy chulo. Y si quieres darle un toque distinto y atrevido, elige accesorios en una tonalidad más llamativa para contrarrestar con el conjunto.
La clave para llevar a rajatabla esta tendencia está en la organización del armario. Si empiezas a ordenar las diferentes secciones por colores, te sorprenderás de la gran cantidad de prendas que tienes en un tono parecido y encontrarás las piezas con mucha más facilidad. Está claro, esta tendencia nos va a simplificar la vida muchísimo porque, además de ir a la moda, la idea de elegir sólo un tono para vestirnos hará más fácil elegir la ropa que nos pondremos al día siguiente.
Tonal Dressing

Think of tonal dressing as spring/summer’s answer to all-black everything, but with way more choice: the outfits on show for SS18 had more colour variations than your average Dulux chart. The real beauty of tonal dressing is that it works for almost any scenario that you can think of. Tonal suiting? Try it for a summer wedding. Tonal pastels? Give it a go on your next summer holiday. Tonal navy? You’ve probably worn that all winter long.
Colours you’re already well-stocked with are a good place to start – think blue or grey – but don’t be afraid of lighter neutrals and even pastel shades as the weather improves. Oh, and three is the magic number for the number of tonal items you should be wearing in one outfit.
Pantalones con raya deportiva
El pantalón con raya lateral ha llegado para quedarse. Aunque en un principio parecía que nunca íbamos a rendirnos a sus encantos, ahora no hay escaparate ni armario que se le resista. Aún así dar en el clavo con él, a veces, te sigue pareciendo misión imposible, pero estos looks te van a demostrar que el pantalón que manda esta temporada esconde más posibilidades de las que crees.
Pero, reconozcámoslo, en un primer momento, esa estética que recordaba a aquel mítico pantalón de chándal de Adidas provocaba ciertas dudas estilísticas, y hasta miedo de parecer que acababas de salir del gimnasio. Incluso, aún viéndolo tomar el timón de los looks de gurús fashionistas de la talla de Adam Gallager y de los instagrammers con más estilo.
A pesar de todo, el estilo deportivo ya se ha convertido en el rey del 'street style', haciendo del chándal una auténtica apuesta y erigiendo este pantalón como imprescindible en cualquier armario que se precie. Y ha venido para quedarse. Poniendo el 'athleisure' al alcance de todos, consigue dar una vuelta de tuerca tanto al look más formal como al más sencillo, cargando nuestras apuestas de personalidad y convirtiéndolas en opciones de lo más versátiles y todo terreno.
Side-Stripe Trousers
Picture this: it’s the nineties, jeans are the ‘smart’ option, and there are more side-stripe trackies walking the streets than people. Now rub your eyes, because hey, it’s 2018 and the side-stripe revival is real.
The proof that side-stripe trousers are no longer unacceptable for grown-ups was the fact that luxury designers went absolutely mad for them this season. There were skinny versions at Balmain, Prada showed them coordinating tops, while Valentino went straight-up retro sportswear. Basically, if you haven’t got lines down your legs for SS18, you’re not doing menswear right.
Side-stripe trousers have come at a pretty good time, with ‘athleisure’ in danger of becoming about as much fun as marathon training. Get a pair of stripes on your pins though and you’ll find the trend can go another mile or two.
The key to making side stripes work without looking like Sporty Spice is balance. Yes, you can wear trainers with them, but you’ll need to add a smart knit or a slim-fit shirt to stop the ‘I socialise at bus stops’ vibes.
Vaqueros de padres
Míralo por el lado positivo: más cómodos imposibles. Se acaba la tiranía del pitillo y del slim fit y llega una tendencia vaquera mucho más relajada, más “overside” con un ajuste ligero, holgado, y sencillo. No confundas este tipo de vaqueros con los de “pata de elegante”, los de padre son rectos y anchos. Lo mejor es que lo combines con una sencilla camiseta blanca o una camisa de colores neutros y el resultado final será lo más armonioso del mundo.
El llamado 'estilo padre' está por todas partes y como siempre ocurre en este universo de tendencias extrañas ha pasado de ser una anécdota a ser todo un discurso. De ser una broma a ser ironía, que no es lo mismo. De estar mal a estar bien, en definitiva. Tanto reírnos y mira, aquí dejándonos la pasta en prendas “antiguas”.
¿Cuál es la clave de las tallas? Hay que llevar la que le corresponde a uno o, en su defecto, siempre elegir una más, que es mucho mejor que una menos. Pero el estilo padre propone prendas dos tallas por encima de lo normal y un falso oversize: no es que la ropa sea deliberadamente grande, es que es más grande y punto.
Dad Denim
Menswear likes extremes. So, just when it looked like circulation-restricting spray-on jeans were never going to die, SS18 gifted us with leg-friendly dad denim. Think loose fit, light wash, unfussy and straight up and down. Like a more stylish, dialled-down version of the normcore trend, dad denim unites baby boomers and millennials through a love of unfussy comfort (just don’t mention the housing market).
Irony addicts Vetements almost single-handedly kicked off the whole dad denim revival, and we couldn’t be happier. It’s comfortable, doesn’t make you look like you’re trying too hard and gives legs everywhere the breathing space they’ve been so desperately craving for the past decade or so. Plus, Simon Cowell has been vindicated: he knew all along that going loose on the legs would eventually cycle back around. Isn’t that right, Si?
As for the rules of dressing like your dad (only much, much better): go for cropped designs or pinroll your jeans (pools of fabric at your feet are still not cool) and team with T-shirts, statement trainers, Chelsea boots and loose-fitting shirts in pastel shades. Skinny jeans, your vice-like grip is no more.
Cazadoras técnicas
Si el año pasado por estas fechas estabas estrenando tu maravillosa cazadora bomber tipo aviador este año la tendencia ha dado un giro de 180 grados. Esto no significa que tengas que tirar a la basura la bomber sino que le prestes un poco de atención a un tipo de cazadora tipo anorak o cortaviientos que esta primavera la vas a ver por todas las tiendas.
Antes de gritar quiero que sepas que no estamos hablando de comprarte todo un equipo aburrido de trekking (con esos colores chillones que hacen mal a la vista) sino de de chaquetas o cazadoras técnicas que combaten el frío primaveral y con diseños divertidos en tonos pastel, oscuros o incluso sombreados.
En este apartado el abanico es amplísimo; las encontrareis en forma de gabardina, de chubasquero, de anorak...mil formas que demuestra lo mucho que ha cambiado la moda para hombres en los últimos años.
Technical Jackets
The winds of change have blown for SS18 and what’s deemed hot property in men’s outerwear has done a complete 180. Yes, that silky-soft suede bomber you bought last year is still unbelievably attractive, but if you really want to flex your menswear muscle then a technical jacket (read: anorak or windbreaker) is your safest bet.
Before you groan, we’re not talking dishwater dull mountain trekking gear. The technical jackets you’re about to see land in the shops have kept their weather-fighting superpowers but are now designed in a way which won’t send you to sleep. They come colour-blocked, in pastels or dark and moody shades. The fact that a big chunk of them would look out of place on a ramble is proof of just how much of a menswear makeover technical jackets have undergone.
The very best part of this reinvention is that your styling options are broad. Throw one on over jeans, tailored trousers, knits, shirts, trainers or Chelsea boots… you’d be hard pressed to go wrong. Also, you’re sure as hell going to get your money’s worth – summer, as always, is bound to be a write off.
Cuadros
Ya sé lo que estáis pensando, los cuadros no han vuelto a llevarse porque nunca han dejado de estar de moda. Técnicamente tienes razón, pero esta temporada dar un giro de tuerca y los cuadros de vuelven mas “cuadrados”.
Por un lado, tenemos la idea de los cuadros como símbolo de herencia sartorial. Es decir, el tipo de cuadros que nace en Savile Row, calle en el barrio londinense de Mayfair y famosa por su tradicional sastrería a medida para hombres. Este estilo se ha expandido a través de muchas décadas hasta la actualidad e incluye estampado de cuadros como el tartán, Príncipe de Gales o windowpane.
Y en el otro lado del espectro, tenemos los estampados de cuadros más llamativos o de estilo grunge. Es decir, una versión al más puro estilo de Kurt Cobain. Esta primavera, las pasarelas nos han dejado claro que una mezcla entre estos dos estilos es posible. Desde los estampados más tradicionales hasta los más kitsch, podremos ver desde sastrería a medida exquisita hasta camisas de estilo oversize o prendas de punto en estampados coloridos.
Checks
We know what you’re thinking, checks can’t come back because they never really went away. Technically you’re right, but while checks refuse to ever leave the menswear party, the wrong type can make you look, well, square.
There’s still a chasm of taste between a gingham ‘going out’ shirt for Friday night with the lads and a classic windowpane suit. We really don’t want you letting yourself down in one of those short-sleeved weekend wonders, but fortunately you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to size, style and colour this season.
The safest way to make checks work for you is to try larger or more complex motifs (think heritage, windowpane, Prince of Wales) on outerwear, knitwear and trousers. To avoid giving innocent bystanders a headache, check yourself and make sure that the rest of your outfit is toned down.
Camisas con Tropical Prints
Las opciones en camisas estampadas van más allá esta temporada. Con reminiscencias de los años 80, los prints tropicales y de inspiración oriental evolucionan esta temporada para formar parte de los looks más desenfadados. Los estampados florales conviven con el patchwork de los 70 y los gráficos más atrayentes para dejar en evidencia que las camisas toman esta temporada un protagonismo total.
Y es que hay que ver cómo han cambiado las tendencias. Durante años, las camisas de motivos tropicales eran lo peor del mundo de la moda y el estilo. El no va más en horteradas del verano. Pero la cosa hace tiempo que ha cambiado y las camisas tropicales son más trendy que nunca. Hacen un guiño a los tópicos del verano, como flores, palmeras y piñas, y se llenan de color, lo que las convierte en muy apetecibles para aportar color y diversión a nuestros looks veraniegos.
Apuesta en tus outfits de oficina por las camisas con discretos microprints que se repiten. Marcarás la diferencia.
Tropical Print Shirts
Sometimes we think that menswear designers are out to do a number on us. Such is the case with the resurgence of tropical print shirts which, on first take, seems like a bit of a sartorial booby trap. Liking a tropical shirt flies in the face of all good reason: they’re usually gaudy, never fit particularly well and are invariably worn by overbearing men as a nonverbal way of communicating that you’re in close proximity to ‘a fun guy’.
Nobody therefore is more surprised than us that we’re fully into the idea of tropical print shirts for SS18. And, oddly enough, it was Paris (definitely not tropical) that embraced the trend most warmly with Louis Vuitton in particular making us sit bolt upright and admit we were wrong.
Getting on board requires subtlety, something lost on practically every printed shirtwearer to date. Seek out designs in pared-back colour palettes and combine with dark tailored chinos or jeans to nail the look. Even if the weather doesn’t play ball this year, the outlook for your summer wardrobe should be totally and utterly tropical.
