La historia de esta exposición creo que merece la pena que la conozcáis. Estos girasoles que veis forman parte de los más de 7000 que hay plantados en un descampado en Vallecas, a las afueras de Madrid. El terreno estaba destinado a viviendas que nunca se construyeron por la burbuja inmobilaria quedando un paisaje totalmente desolado. Los vecinos se pusieron manos a la obra y plantaron por su cuenta miles y miles de girasoles para transformar ese paisaje inquietante en un espacio productivo y de encuentro.
La exposición la podéis ver en una nave del Matadero de Madrid, se llama “agostamiento” y la organiza el colectivo Basurama.
The history of this exhibition I think it is worth to know it. These sunflowers that you see are part of the more than 7000 which is planted in a field in Vallecas, on the outskirts of Madrid. The land was intended for homes that were never built because of the bubble of real estate, it left a completely desolate landscape. Neighbors got to work and planted on their own thousands of sunflowers to transform this unsettling landscape in a productive space and meeting.
The exhibition can see in a ship of the Matadero Madrid, referred to as "withering" and the collective Basurama organizes it.
Toda la exposición invita a la reflexión. Son miles de personas que han decidido hacerse cargo de sus vidas y de sus barrios y gestionar sus espacios públicos. Ellos aran el espacio, siembran los girasoles, los cuidan, riegan, recogen sus pipas, y al final las tuestan y las comen juntos. El mensaje es que “en tiempo de agostamiento hay espacio para la reconstrucción y la belleza”. Ahí os lo dejo, para que reflexionéis.
The exhibition invites reflection. They are thousands of people who have decided to take charge of their lives and their neighborhoods and manage their public spaces. They plow and plant the sunflowers as well as they caregiver, water and collect their pipes, and ultimately toast them and eat them together. The message is “ in withering times there is room for reconstruction and beauty". There I leave it to reflect.
