Más de 150 años se llevan Goya y Buñuel pero viendo sus obras nadie lo diría. Y es que, lo siento no puedo ser imparcial, me apasionan estos dos genios; sus obras son inquietantes, subversivas, incómodas, innovadoras, adelantadas a su tiempo. No creo que de nadie en la actualidad se pueda decir lo mismo.
Las convergencias entre Goya y Buñuel las podéis ver hasta marzo en el Museo Lázaro Galdiano de Madrid; la muestra reúne unas 55 obras (lienzos, grabados, cartas, libros, fotogramas, guiones, audiovisuales), procedentes de museos como el Prado, el Reina Sofía, el Thyssen, el Lázaro Galdiano, Filmoteca Española, colecciones privadas...
Irá en primavera a Zaragoza y está previsto que después viaje a México y Estados Unidos. Disfrutadla que merece la pena.
Goya and Buñuel take over 150 years but, after seeing their works, nobody would say so. And it's that, I'm sorry I can not be impartial, I am passionate about these two geniuses; their works are disturbing, subversive, uncomfortable, innovative, visionaries. I do not think anyone can say the same thing in our days.
The convergences between Goya and Buñuel can be seen until March at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in Madrid; the show gathers some 55 works (canvases, engravings, letters, books, frames, scripts, audiovisuals), coming from museums such as the Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen, Lázaro Galdiano, Spanish Film Library, private collections ...
It will go to Zaragoza in the spring and is scheduled to travel to Mexico and the United States afterwards. Enjoy it that is worth it.
La muestra huye de los tópicos que asociaban a ambos creadores y se ha centrado en sus vínculos creativos e ideologicos. Los dos son ávidos observadores del mundo. Goya bebe del Barroco, de Velázquez y Rembrandt. Amigo de Jovellanos, es cercano a la Ilustración y su espíritu reformista. Buñuel llega a la Residencia de Estudiantes en Madrid, donde conoce a Lorcay a Dalí. Después, descubre las vanguardias en el deslumbrante París.
Ambos comparten un agudo espíritu crítico de la realidad. Sus trabajos resultan incómodos, inquietantes, generan zozobra. Ninguno de los dos busca reconfortar al espectador. Ambos denunciaron las guerras y todo tipo de violencia.
Curated by Amparo Martínez and José Ignacio Calvo, the exhibition establishes convergences between both creators: from Aragon, deaf and French followers. They both shared an interest in exploring human nature and were master creators of innovative and fighting atmospheres to find the means of expression with which to identify themselves. Even so, there are also numerous different mentalities, eras, cultures and creative forces which place Goya and Buñuel in very different positions.
Quizás el elemento que más une a Goya y Buñuel es la libertad que ambos tanto aman. Decía el cineasta: «La imaginación es libre, el hombre no». Los dos tienen un talento magistral para la subversión como vehículo de creación artística. Y lo hacen creando seres grotescos, esperpénticos. Los vemos en los «Disparates», los «Caprichos» y en lienzos como «El tío Paquete», de Goya (este último, préstamo del Museo Thyssen).
En el caso de Buñuel, en filmes como «Nazarín» o «Viridiana», donde convierte «La Última Cena» de Leonardo da Vinci en una reunión de mendigos y pobres ávidos de justicia.
Under the joint organisation of the Government of Aragon and the Ibercaja Foundation, this exhibition brings together a careful selection of original works by both creators from Aragon, which reached exceptional levels of creativity in their respective pictorial and film productions.The exhibition is made up of paintings and engravings by Goya, photograms and screen sequences of films by Buñuel, documents and books from 14 public and private collections that belong to different institutions and entities.
Otro nexo de unión entre ambos creadores, según veréis en la exposición, es su formidable capacidad para escudriñar la naturaleza humana, para mirar en nuestro interior. Colocan al hombre en el centro de sus trabajos. Sus obras nos obligan a sentir y a pensar. Por eso resultan incómodas. Te sitúan ante realidades inquietantes; excitan, estimulan nuestra imaginación.
No os la perdais. No decepciona.
"The Disasters of War”,” 30" belonging to "Ravages of War and Caprice", “43" from the Caprices series are some of the works by Goya that can be seen. “Viridiana" is one of the eleven films by Buñuel of which some of the photograms that form part of the exhibition have been taken. Furthermore, a publication with essays by leading specialists on the works of Goya and Buñuel will be presented.
