¡Cómo me gusta San Francisco! Esta ha sido mi tercera vez en la ciudad de las "mil y una cuestas” y la he disfrutado más que nunca incluso me atrevería a decir que, por fin, la he saboreado. ¿Por qué? Por millones de razones, porque tiene playa, parques por todas partes, sistemas de transporte antiguos y funcionales, un clima perfecto entre los 10 y 18°C, vistas increíbles, gastronomía variada, una mentalidad abierta, un estilo de vida saludable y unos habitantes que siempre te reciben con una sonrisa.... Y aún así me quedo corto, porque este es tal vez uno de los lugares más agradables del mundo.
Es una ciudad que apoya la diversidad y celebra la innovación. Para disfrutarla no vale la pena tomar taxis ni metro, puedes caminarla sin problemas de punta a punta por lo que sólo necesitas unos buenos tenis y toda la actitud para perderse y descubrir rincones inolvidables.
Ah, y no, no llevé flores en mi sombrero en San Francisco pero sí un par de amigos maravillosos que siempre estarán en mi corazón. Un beso José y Dean, nos vemos en nada en Lisboa.
How I love San Francisco! This one has been my third time in the city of the "thousand and one hills" and I have enjoyed it even more than ever, I would even say that, at last, I have savored it. Why? for millions of reasons, because it has a beach , parks everywhere, old and functional transport systems, a perfect climate between 10 and 18 ° C, incredible views, varied gastronomy, an open mind, a healthy lifestyle and inhabitants who always welcome you with a smile. ... And still I'm short, because this is perhaps one of the most pleasant places in the world.
It is a city that supports diversity and celebrates innovation. To enjoy it, it is not worth taking taxis or subway, you can walk it without problems from end to end so you´ll only need good tennis shoes and some attitude to get lost and discover unforgettable corners.
Oh no, I did not wear flowers in my hair in San Francisco but I did have a couple of wonderful friends who will always be in my heart. I love you guys, José and Dean, next time in Lisbon.
San Francisco es una ciudad atípica. A diferencia de otras ciudades americanas, no es enorme, ni caótica, ni ruidosa, y sus habitantes sonríen al visitante en cualquiera de las circunstancias en las que se encuentre. Tal vez su historia tenga algo que ver en esto, y es que la ciudad pasó de ser un pequeño pueblo a una gran ciudad en tiempo récord como consecuencia de la Fiebre del Oro de 1849. Reminiscencia de un pasado que continúa en la memoria de todos los ‘sanfrancisqueños’, que es como se conoce a sus habitantes.
El eterno problema de San Francisco no es qué ver en la ciudad, sino más bien qué no ver en un lugar cargado de historia escrita a golpe de reivindicación como la que marcaron los escritores de la generación ‘beat’, los hippies del Verano del Amor y el Flower Power de finales de los años 60′ o los homosexuales que hoy forman una de las comunidades más numerosas de Estados Unidos. San Francisco sigue sustentando, hoy por hoy, su emblema como capital de la contracultura.
San Francisco is one of the most eclectic cities in the United States. It’s home to liberals, hippies, hipsters, techies, immigrants, yuppies, one of the oldest gay scenes in the States, that big red bridge, Alcatraz, delicious Chinese food, seafood, and, well, food in general (this is a great city to be hungry in). To me, it’s a magical place. While it lacks that certain je ne sais quoi that would convince me to pack my bags and live there, I look forward to each visit with excitement (and hunger). There’s always something new and exciting going on.
They say “only in San Francisco” for a reason. Known for culture, music, diversity, and picturesque views throughout the city, San Francisco is an eclectic city to visit. This city is “out there.” There are a lot of alternative lifestyles here, lots of hippies, and tons of college students. Throw in a very liberal bend, and you are going to get one of the funkiest and coolest cities in America.
A San Francisco le han puesto muchas etiquetas, desde que es la ciudad más bella de California hasta ser descrita como la urbe más europea de Norteamérica, pero todo el mundo está de acuerdo en algo: San Francisco es única. Y la razón para serlo es su singular mezcla de tradición y modernidad, allí podemos encontrar desde grandes rascacielos en el horizonte hasta casas de estilo victoriano, así como una extraña y característica morfología, dado que está asentada entre 20 colinas.
Aunque es relativamente pequeña, menos de 125 km2, hay que dedicarle cierto tiempo para conocerla. Lo mejor es dar grandes paseos para admirar sus edificios victorianos, acercarse al puerto, al centro financiero, tomarse un café admirando la bahía, o simplemente esperar y ver pasar a la gente. No sé porqué me dice el corazón que volveré a esta ciudad una vez más. Y es que San Francisco engancha... y mucho. Será un placer volver a ver el color rojizo del Golden Gate y el arco iris reflejado en las aguas de su bahía. Por más que recorro sus calles una y otra vez siempre tengo la sensación de que me estoy perdiendo algo y pienso, “bueno, la próxima vez que venga lo veré con más calma”.
Y, sin duda, así será.
I don’t know why my heart tells me that I will return to this city once more time. And it says so because San Francisco engages very much. It will be a pleasure to see again the reddish color of the Golden Gate and the rainbow reflected in the waters of its bay.
As much as I walk its streets again and again I always have the feeling that I'm missing something and I think, "well, next time I come I'll see it more calmly".
And, without a doubt, it will be like that.
