Cuando recibí la invitación para ir a degustar DEWAR'S Scotch Whisky y huevos escoceses pensé en lo raro ( y a la vez original) de la combinación. Me picó la curiosidad y fui a la Real Fabrica de Tapices que era donde se celebraba el evento. Una vez allí lo entendí todo. Era como estar en un club privado donde podías beber los maravillosos cócteles de esta licorera escocesa, cortarte el pelo a lo hipster, hacerte un tatuaje si quieres y disfrutar de música en directo. Toda una experiencia única que es la primera vez que se celebra en España. ¿ Y los huevos? pues, al parecer, era una de las aficiones de uno de los fundadores de la marca: criar gallinas ponedoras.
Todos estos ingredientes los han mezclado y ha salido el " DEWAR'S Scotch Egg Club", uno de los eventos más originales y rompedores del panorama internacional que, por fin, ha llegado a nuestro país y, por el éxito, parece que para quedarse.

De entre todos los combinados que ofrece la marca os recomiendo el ‘Ginger&Scotch’, realizado con DEWAR'S 12, Ginger Ale, lima y unas gotas de angostura, una de las principales propuestas de la marca. Su sabor refrescante y ligeramente cítrico es la opción perfecta para valorar este combinado lleno de matice y muy refrescante ahora en verano.

El chef Sergi Arola junto a los jóvenes emergentes Jongping Zhang de Soy Kitchen, Manuel Urbano de La Malaje y Diego Manuel García de Kitchen 154 hicieron su propia versión de los famosos ‘scotch egg’ que es un huevo duro rebozado con salchicha al que añadieron salmorejo para "españolizarlos" un poco. Tengo que reconocer que la propuesta de maridaje con los combinados de Dewar's 12 me sorprendió y para bien.

Los más atrevidos pudieron cortarse el pelo y hasta hacerse un tatuaje en el Scotch Egg Club. Allí estaba la artista gráfica Wasted Rita, diseñando tatoos en forma de mensajes originales para que un profesional los marque en la piel de los asistentes más valientes. Había cola.
La música corrió a cargo de Love of Lesbian, Sidonie y Delorean, tres bandas alternativas que ofrecieron conciertos en directo en una sala donde no cabía un alfiler.
Dewar's Signature Blended Scotch Whisky — the flagship whisky of John Dewar & Sons Co. — is crafted by blending together "the rarest of rare whiskies from across Scotland." The backbone of the whisky is a 27 year-old single malt whisky that is crafted at Aberfeldy Distillery, according to master blender Thomas Aitken. Once the 27 year-old is married together with other whiskies, the resulting blend is allowed to rest again in oak casks. This secondary maturation process "is a marriage made in heaven — ensuring our whiskies are even smoother and creamier," says Aitken.

As a result of its unique components and maturation process, Dewar's Signature Blended Scotch Whisky has a deep amber color, along with an aroma of maple, honey, anise and smoke. The aroma gives way to notes of rich, creamy vanilla, honey, rock candy and licorice on the palate. The finish is long and warm, with a touch of heathery, floral notes.
