Skeleton es la ultima colección de cubertería diseñada por Nendo para Valerie Objects, firma belga dedicada a la venta de objetos de diseño.
La propuesta del estudio japonés dirigido por Oki Sato, forma parte de una colección mayor encargada por la compañía belga a diseñadores de todo el mundo.
Fiel a su estilo, los creativos de Nendo han reducido al mínimo, sin poner en peligro su integridad estructural, cada una de las piezas de la colección hasta conseguir verdaderos esqueletos de cada una de ellas (de ahí su nombre: esqueleto en inglés).
Compuesta por cuchara, tenedor, cuchillo y cucharilla, Skeleton está disponible en dos colores, plateado y negro.
What happens when you reduce an object to its bare-bone minimum? That was essentially the idea behind a new line of cutlery created by Japanese design office Nendo.
“Skeleton” is a line of cutlery that includes four items: a spoon, fork, knife and teaspoon. Each has been reduced to the absolute minimum, “limiting the amount of material used whilst still retaining its functionality,” explains Nendo. The result is an outline almost reminiscent of a skeleton from an x-ray image but, ironically, with renewed functionality. The resulting form actually allows the cutlery to be hooked onto various things like the rim of a cup, or a small display wall hook. The set, which was created for Belgian brand Valerie Objects, actually comes with a dedicated stand and wall hook display, all of which will be available through the brand’s online shop.
La cubertería se ha reducido al mínimo absoluto, limitando la cantidad de material utilizado y conservando su funcionalidad, quedando el contorno de los cubiertos como la imagen de un esqueleto reflejado en una radiografía.
Se puede enganchar y almacenar en varios lugares de la cocina y la cucharilla se puede enganchar en el borde de la taza. Hay cuatro elementos, una cuchara, un tenedor, un cuchillo y una cucharadita, el juego también tiene un soporte específico y un gancho de pared para mostrar el conjunto.

Each piece in the Skeleton Cutlery set has been reduced to bare minimum, limiting the amount of material used whilst still retaining functionality. Consisting of four items: a spoon, fork, knife, and teaspoon, the cutlery is PVD coated in two different colours, silver and black to provide an anti-scratch and dirt-repellent surface. This 16 piece set comes complete with dedicated stand and wall hook, cotton covers and wooden gift box.
La colección se llama acertadamente “Esqueleto” porque las formas evocan la de un esqueleto visto en rayos X. Los objetos se pueden exhibir y colgar en cualquier esquina de la cocina y la casa, integrándose perfectamente con el diseño interior.

With a fresh perspective on cutlery, Oki Sato was able to condense the needs of daily objects to elevate them in Skeleton through the dialogues with Valerie Objects. While the playground of design is no longer singular, as it is now interdisciplinary with many cross-intersections, the designs themselves can always be enhanced with cleverness, thoughtfulness, and modesty.
