No sé si sabeis que los finlandeses se consideran ellos mismos como “los españoles” del norte de Europa por su carácter simpático y amable, más cercano a los cálidos mediterráneos que a los fríos bálticos. Y doy fe de ello. Tengo algunos amigos finlandeses que perfectamente podrían pasar por madrileños o andaluces por su cercanía.
Por eso no me sorprendió que Finlandia eligiese España para mostrar una exposición sobre el primer centenario de su independencia. Esta muestra ilustra 100 años de Finlandia a través de un objeto de cada uno de los años de su independencia.
"100 Objetos de Finlandia" habla de Finlandia y de la esencia del país a través de ejemplos cotidianos, innovadores y humorísticos.
Los objetos que forman parte de la exposición, todos ellos diseñados y realizados en Finlandia, representan ante todo la vida en este país. En sus historias se reflejan el tiempo, la luz, la infancia, el trabajo, la supervivencia ante la adversidad, la inventiva o la alegría.
Sin duda, no os la tenéis que perder. Muchos objetos os van a resultar más que familiares.
Some Finns consider themselves as"the Spaniards" of northern Europe because of their friendly and warm nature, probably closer to the Mediterranean people than to the cold Baltics. And I am agree with that. I have some Finnish friends who could perfectly be Madrilian or Andalusian because of their closeness. That's why I was not surprised that Finland chose Spain to show an exhibition about the first centenary of its independence
This exhibition tells the story of Finland by featuring one object from each year of its independence. It introduces Finland through examples of everyday, industrial, innovative and even amusing products.
The Maternity Package from 1938, a pedestrian safety reflector from 1950, a plastic sled from 1967 and a Mobira Cityman portable phone from 1987. What object do you think would best describe Finnishness?
La exposición 100 objetos de Finlandia trata de mostrar el camino que los finlandeses han recorrido hasta llegar al momento presente. Los objetos que forman parte de la exposición son Made in Finland y Designed in Finland, pero ante todo representan la vida en Finlandia. En sus historias se refleja el tiempo, la luz, los niños, el trabajo, la supervivencia ante la adversidad, la inventiva, la alegría.
A mi me ha impresionado la cantidad de objetos que han sido inventados por ellos y lo útiles que son. Aparte de los ordenadores y el teléfono movil ( quizás los más conocidos) me divertido mucho el saber que los primeros leggings, los exprimidores de zumos y los pantalones vaqueros de pata de elefante vienen de allí, entre otros muchísimos objetos curiosos.
For an object to be from Finland does not simply mean it has been made or designed in Finland, but it also communicates the essence of life in Finland. The exhibits include a map of Finland, showing where the objects are from geographically.
The exhibition is coordinated by the Finnish Institute in Estonia and has been produced in collaboration with Finnish cultural and academic institutes around the world. The online exhibition 100objects.fi is available for the use of Finnish embassies and cultural and academic institutes for the duration of 2017.
I have been impressed by the amount of objects that have been invented by them and how useful they are. Apart from the computers and mobile phone (perhaps the best known) I am very amused to know that the first leggings, juice squeezers and elephant foot jeans come from there, among many other curious objects.
Y es que como estáis viendo, la pasión finlandesa por el diseño viene de lejos y se extiende a todos los ámbitos de la vida. Cuenta con grandes figuras de la arquitectura o el interiorismo como Alvar Aalto o Eliel Sarinen, y multitud de nombres propios en el diseño de muebles, productos industriales, objetos domésticos o textiles.
La simplicidad, la funcionalidad, el respeto al medio ambiente y el predominio de las formas orgánicas son señas de identidad que se pueden apreciar en las calles, edificios y, sobre todo, en las estupendas tiendas, galerías de arte y locales de ocio que florecen en las principales ciudades del país nórdico.
And after after you saw the pictures, what objects describe best the story of Finland and Finnish identity during the country’s 100 years of independence? Finnish passion for design comes from far and extends to all areas of life. It has great figures of architecture or interior design such as Alvar Aalto or Eliel Sarinen, and many names in the design of furniture, industrial products, household objects or textiles.
The stories of the items describe Finnish identity with every day, industrial, innovative and humorous examples.
The exhibition project was launched and managed by the Finnish Institute in Estonia. After Helsinki, this exhibition went on tour to Tallinn, Oslo, Madrid and finally Riga. Its curators are author and art historian Anna Kortelainen and designer Pekka Toivanen.
Por último sólo recordarte que la exposición sobre 100 objetos de Finlandia la podéis ver totalmente gratuita en el Museo de Artes Decorativas de Madrid hasta el 14 de enero de 2018. Una excelente oportunidad para saber un poquito más este maravilloso país nórdico.
