Si visitar el Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid en primavera es ya de por sí una delicia para los sentidos, este año hay un aliciente más; se han plantado unos 15.600 bulbos de tulipanes de diferentes variedades y que están ahora en plena floración.
Eso sí, si queréis verlos en todo su esplendor tenéis que daros prisa ya que los responsables del jardín calculan que pasados estos días empezarán a perder sus pétalos y se mantendrán solo los bulbos hasta la primavera del año que viene. Una oportunidad única de disfrutar de este espectáculo sin necesidad de viajar hasta Holanda.
Ah, y no os perdais tampoco la exposición sobre esta interesante flor.
If visiting the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid in spring is already a delight for our senses, this year there is one more incentive; almost 20,000 tulip bulbs of different varieties have been planted and are now in full bloom.
Of course, if you want to see them in all their splendor you have to hurry because the garden managers estimate that in a few days days they will begin to lose their petals and only the bulbs will remain until next year. A unique opportunity to enjoy this show without the need to travel to Holland.

Una de las cosas que más sorprenden ( y que aprendí viendo la muestra) es que, más allá de los ornamentales, los tulipanes apenas tienen otro uso. A diferencia de otras plantas que tienen efectos benéficos para la salud, los tulipanes casi no se utilizan para curar, salvo en casos muy excepcionales. En efecto, la infusión de sus hojas es un potente laxante, las semillas se emplean para combatir el mal aliento y los emplastes de tulipán calman la irritación de la piel aunque, utilizado en exceso, también la puede irritar.
One of the things that surprise me the most (and I learned seeing the exhibition) is that, beyond the ornamental ones, tulips have hardly any other use. Unlike other plants that have beneficial effects on health, tulips are rarely used to cure, except in very exceptional cases. Indeed, the infusion of its leaves is a powerful laxative, the seeds are used to combat bad breath and tulip plaster soothes skin irritation although, used in excess, it can also irritate.
Y es que pasear por los jardines de Botánico de Madrid es un auténtico placer sobre todo estos días de primavera por el continuo cambio de colores. La floración está ahora en su máximo esplendor. Atrás han quedado los narcisos que han dado paso a las azaleas, a los rododendros, los almendros y cerezos, al árbol del amor, que tras de sí deja un manto morado que enamora a los visitantes, y, sobre todo, la pradera de los tulipanes. Es la más perseguida por todos los objetivos de las cámaras fotográficas tras 20 semanas de frío y una ( cortita) de calor.

So walking through the gardens of Botanico de Madrid is a real pleasure especially during spring days because its continuous change of colors. The flowering is now at its maximum splendor. Gone are the daffodils that have given way to the azaleas, the rhododendrons, the almond and cherry trees, the tree of love, which leaves behind a purple mantle that visitors love, and, above all, the meadow of Tulips. It is the most pursued by all the objectives of the cameras after 20 weeks of cold and a short one of heat.
