Son algunos de los artistas nacionales e internacionales contemporáneos más cotizados del momento que han tomado el nuevo distrito financiero de Madrid para expandir sine die su obra y animar, con sus divertidas formas y llamativos colores, a una de las zonas más grises de la capital, el distrito financiero de las 5 torres.
Hasta 11 instalaciones plagadas de color e inspiradas en el movimiento y la sostenibilidad se han colocado en los exteriores de Caleido -el último de los edificios construidos en la zona- dando vida a la zona comercial y de ocio que se ha levantado alrededor de esta construcción.
Un proyecto de arte público promovido por los propietarios del inmueble y comisariado por Urvanity Projects -la compañía liderada por Sergio Sancho especializada en el arte contemporáneo más actual- que llega para quedarse.
New York's Maya Hayuk, a pioneer of urban art and abstraction; Madrid's Boa Mistura and SpY; Berlin's Topic Tomislav, from the Quintessenz duo; Brazil's Thiago Mazza; Switzerland's Lukas Ulmi... They are some of the most renowned national and international contemporary artists of the moment who have taken over Madrid's new financial district to expand sine die their work and liven up, with their fun shapes and bright colors, one of the grayest areas of the capital, the financial district of the 5 towers.
Up to 11 colorful installations inspired by movement and sustainability have been placed on the exteriors of Caleido -the last of the buildings constructed in the area- giving life to the commercial and leisure area that has been built around this construction.
A public art project promoted by the owners of the building and curated by Urvanity Projects -the company led by Sergio Sancho specialized in the most current contemporary art- that is here to stay.
Junto al color, la selección de las piezas que encontramos en Caleido ha girado en torno dos aspectos: la sostenibilidad y el movimiento, ya que se trata de un lugar de la ciudad por donde transcurren muchas personas. Cuando pasees por allí encontrarás obra de artistas que actualmente están revolucionando el nuevo arte contemporáneo y sus diferentes expresiones, como el muralismo, el postgraffiti, la instalación site-specific o el nuevo arte pop. Es una especia de museo de Arte Urbano Contemporáneo al aire libre como el que encontramos en el Paseo de la Castellana a la altura del ABC Serrano.
Inspirado en el proyecto del Design District de Miami, y con gran parte de sus obras creadas in situ, esta iniciativa pretende atraer al público madrileño entendido o no del arte. Sus creadores sostienen que "es un proyecto abierto a todo el mundo para que la gente disfrute y haga un tour por las obras así como llamar la atención a que desde la empresa privada también se pueden promocionar este tipo de iniciativas culturales"
Together with color, the selection of the pieces found in Caleido has been based on two aspects: sustainability and movement, since it is a place in the city where many people pass through. When you walk around there you will find the work of artists who are currently revolutionizing the new contemporary art and its different expressions, such as muralism, post-graffiti, site-specific installation or the new pop art. It is a kind of open-air museum of Contemporary Urban Art like the one we find in Paseo de la Castellana at ABC Serrano.
Inspired by the Miami Design District project, and with most of its works created in situ, this initiative aims to attract the Madrid public, whether they are art connoisseurs or not. Its creators maintain that "it is a project open to everyone so that people can enjoy and take a tour of the works, as well as drawing attention to the fact that private enterprise can also promote this type of cultural initiative".
