Está en Arganzuela, junto a Madrid Rio, y es uno de esos lugares que ( no se sabe muy bien porqué ) nadie habla de ellos. Y es que, a pesar de su gran belleza, este vistoso Palacio de Cristal pasa sorprendentemente inadvertido.
El edificio, que formaba parte del conjunto del antiguo Matadero Municipal – la Nave de Patatas- fue rehabilitado en los noventa tomando como inspiración los invernaderos europeos del siglo XIX, representativos de la Arquitectura del Hierro.
En su interior podemos disfrutar de un agradable paseo por un jardín botánico que cuenta con 9000 especies de plantas en cuatro clases diferenciadas: flora tropical, subtropical, plantas crasas y cactáceas y plantas de crucero y acuáticas.
El acceso al Palacio es gratuito y su interior, habitualmente tranquilo, es el escenario ideal para disfrutar de un buen libro, leer el periódico o, porqué no, acercarse a dibujar.

It's in Arganzuela, next to Madrid Rio, and it's one of those places that ( I don’t know why) nobody talks about it. Despite its great beauty, this colorful Crystal Palace seems to be unnoticed for most people.
The building, which was part of the set of the old Municipal Slaughterhouse - the Ship of Potatoes - was rehabilitated during the nineties taking as inspiration the European greenhouses of the nineteenth century, representative of the Architecture of Iron.
Inside we can enjoy a pleasant walk through a botanical garden that has 9000 species of plants in four differentiated areas: tropical, subtropical flora, succulents and cacti plants and aquatic and cruise plants.
Access to Palace is free and its interior, usually quiet, is the ideal setting to enjoy a good book, read the newspaper or, why not, try to drawing.

Como creo que estáis comprobando, os gusten o no las plantas, este lugar tiene algo de mágico que invita a recorrerlo como si fuera un museo.
Puede que sea su luminosidad, sus enormes vidrieras o su diseño art-decó, pero lo cierto es que el invernadero de Arganzuela engancha nada más pisarlo.
Justo al entrar, el pasillo te lleva directo al a plaza central del Palacio de Cristal, desde allí puedes acceder a las distintas zonas.
Todas estas zonas cuentan con pasillos en su interior para caminar entre las plantas. Junto a las plantas encontrarás números y paneles para identificar todas y cada una de ellas. Un pasillo recorre también cada una de las zonas por la parte alta, desde donde puedes ver las plantas desde arriba y admirar la maravillosa estructura metálica del invernadero.

It may be its luminosity, its huge stained glass windows or its art-decó design, but the truth is that the Arganzuela greenhouse engages as soon as it is stepped on.
Just when entering, the corridor takes you straight to the central square of the Crystal Palace, from there you can access the different areas.
All these areas have corridors inside to walk between the plants. Next to the plants you will find numbers and panels to identify each and every one of them. A corridor also runs through each of the areas at the top, from where you can see the plants from above and admire the wonderful metallic structure of the greenhouse.
¿Qué os ha parecido? ¿a qué esa fantástico? A este botánico se le conoce popularmente como como “El invernadero de Arganzuela” y se encuentra situado en el número 10 del paseo de la Chopera, junto al río Manzanares. Pertenece a ese largo listado de conjuntos arquitectónicos de gran belleza poco conocidos no solo por los turistas sino por los propios madrileños.
Yo creo que sería un error no dedicar una tarde de primavera a visitar este gran espacio, aunque sea sólo para pasear, respirar y olvidarte un poco de tus problemas.
En serio, visitarlo es toda una sorpresa.
Did you enjoy it? is that fantastic, isn’t ? This botanist is popularly known as "The greenhouse from Arganzuela" and is located at number 10 Paseo de la Chopera, next to Manzanares River. It belongs to that long list of architectural complexes of great beauty little known not only by tourists but by the locals as well.
I think it would be a mistake not to spend a spring afternoon visiting this great space, even if it's just to walk around, breathe and forget a little about your problems.
Seriously, visiting will be a surprise for you.
