Siempre me fascinó el surrealismo. De adolescente cuando todos mis amigos tenían fotos de famosos o de cantantes en sus paredes yo tenía posters de las pinturas de Dalí o de Picasso. No sé, será porque me dejo llevar por la imaginación de los artistas y siento todo su mundo interior; algo que, casi siempre, me sobrecoge.
Es lo mismo que sentí cuando vi la obra de Kevin Corrado, un fotógrafo norteamericano que ,sin utilizar grandes cámaras o escenarios espectaculares, nos dice mucho. No sé que os parecerá a vosotros pero yo veo su obra inquietante, espiritual y muy profunda. Trabaja tanto el blanco y negro como el color, pero en su web también encontramos pinturas al óleo o trabajos de ilustración vectorial.
Surrealism fascinates me, and has done so since I first visited the Salvador Dali Museum in Spain, about 1 years ago. I was drawn in by its ability to confuse, surprise and make my brain ache. It's straight up wacky and keeps me totally captivated. Before that visit I had an interest in art ( always enjoyed going to galleries and drawing since and early age) but it didn't move me to the point where I could confidently say, "I'm really into that because...", and therefore a lot of it just went over my head. So that´s why I love Kevin Corrado work and all his surreal world; he really moves me when I see his pictures.
La creatividad, es una herramienta poderosa y en las Imágenes surrealistas de Kevin Corrado, los paisajes se convierten en algo distinto y no esperado. Lo que me gusta de él es que busca, observa y experimenta en el trabajo de otros fotógrafos aspectos que le maravillan y luego lo reinterpreta a su manera sin copiar a nadie ( algo muy difícil en estos días)
In a funny way Surrealism helped me start to understand and appreciate other movements and art forms, it made me look at subjects differently and challenged my regular reaction of disregarding something simply because I "didn't like it". I've said it before but Dali, you blummin' genius. After the visit I started to obsess over his life and work, even those weird chocolate commercials he did!
Sus estudios de diseño gráfico contribuyen a que sus fotografías tengan sus propias y únicas cualidades. Su paleta de colores y la composición tonal de sus fotografías, muestran un conocimiento más allá de la cámara, como una mezcla entre el surrealismo y el lirismo. Aunque algunas de sus imágenes destacan, más bien, por la composición y contienen escenas comunes o diarias, otras fotografías, por el contrario, contienen imágenes de ensueño increíbles y extrañas. Espero que os guste tanto como a mi.
I came across Kevin Corrado's take on surrealism when doing my daily online search. His photography jumped out at me for having a whimsical quality, and in a strange way, being quite calming (even though each subject could be viewed as sinister). These are not qualities which I normally associate with the likes of Dali, Magritte and Kush, but then again the Surrealism movement taught me to question my preconceptions. Art isn't a subject that crops up much on here anymore but I'd love to heard what you're all currently into, have you been to any good exhibitions or galleries lately?
