HOY ES NAVIDAD...

Y, como cada año, el corazón se me va un poco atrás en el tiempo, se agarra al presente con fuerza y susurra sus anhelos hacia el futuro. Es un día de luces, pero también de sombras amorosas donde los que se fueron brillan con una claridad especial.

Hoy, en medio de los villancicos y el brillo de las luces, hay un recuerdo que ocupa todo el espacio. Un recuerdo con pelo suave, ojos que entendían sin palabras y una cola que movía mi universo. Hoy, Navidad huele a Sara. A su tranquilidad a mis pies, a nuestros paseos en la playa en diciembre, a su mirada llena de ese amor puro que sólo ellos saben dar.

Hace ya dos años y medio que se fue al “cielo perruno”, pero hoy sé ( con una certeza que me llena el pecho) que no se ha ido del todo. Que desde donde esté, nos está cuidando. Que su patita invisible acaricia mi mano cuando la nostalgia aprieta, que su ladrido silencioso me avisa cuando voy por mal camino, que su calor sigue aquí, en el hueco que dejó y que nada ni nadie podrá llenar.

Sara, mi compañera silenciosa, mi amiga fiel: haría cualquier cosa por tenerte otra vez aquí. Por volver a sentir tu cabeza en mi regazo, por verte correr hacia la puerta cuando llegaba, por ese saludo que era pura fiesta. Haría cualquier cosa por un día más contigo. Pero como no puedo, te guardo aquí, en este pedacito de Navidad que sólo es tuyo, y te prometo que seguiré sintiéndote en cada acto de amor, en cada gesto de lealtad, en cada momento de paz que busque.

De ella, de mi perrita, aprendí lecciones que no vienen en los libros:

Que el amor más grande a veces no habla, solo mira y acompaña.
Que la felicidad está en los detalles: un paseo, una caricia, un rato juntos en silencio.
Que la lealtad no es una palabra, es una presencia constante.
Que perder duele, pero el amor que queda es un regalo para siempre.

Y así, entre el recuerdo de mi madre y el de Sara, hoy entiendo que la Navidad es también un altar en el corazón donde se encienden velas por los que se fueron, pero cuya luz sigue guiándonos.

Aprendamos, como ellos nos enseñaron, a amar con todo lo que tenemos. A ser fieles. A cuidarnos unos a otros. A quedarnos callados cuando sólo se necesita compañía. A alegrarnos con lo simple. A ser, en esencia, un poco más como ellos.

Sara, desde tu cielo perruno… ¡Feliz Navidad, mi niña bonita!

Gracias por seguir velando por nosotros. Te llevo conmigo, en cada campanada, en cada deseo, en cada momento de esta noche mágica.

Y a todos vosotros: que en esta Navidad recordéis con amor, viváis con presencia y os dejéis guiar por aquellos que, aunque no estén, nunca nos abandonan del todo.

Today is Christmas...

And, as every year, my heart drifts a little back in time, clings tightly to the present, and whispers its yearnings toward the future. It’s a day of lights, but also of tender shadows where those who are gone shine with a special clarity.

Today, amid the carols and the glittering lights, there is one memory that fills all the space. A memory with soft fur, eyes that understood without words, and a tail that could wag the universe. Today, Christmas smells like Sara. Like her calm presence at my feet, like her walks in the December cold, like her gaze full of that pure love only they know how to give.

It’s been two and a half years now since she left for “doggy heaven,” but today I know, with a certainty that fills my chest, that she hasn’t completely gone. That from wherever she is, she is watching over me. That her invisible paw still strokes my hand when nostalgia grips me, that her silent bark warns me when I’m on the wrong path, that her warmth remains here, in the space she left—a space nothing and no one else can ever fill.

Sara, my silent companion, my loyal friend: I would do anything to have you back here again. To feel your head on my lap once more, to see you run to the door when I arrived, for that greeting that was pure celebration. I would do anything for one more day with you. But since I can’t, I hold you here, in this little piece of Christmas that belongs only to you, and I promise I will keep feeling you in every act of love, in every gesture of loyalty, in every moment of peace I seek.

From her, from my little dog, I learned lessons not found in books:

That the greatest love sometimes doesn’t speak—it just looks and stays close.
That happiness lies in the details: a walk, a caress, quiet time together.
That loyalty isn’t a word; it’s a constant presence.
That loss hurts, but the love that remains is a gift forever.

And so, between the memory of my mother and the memory of Sara, today I understand that Christmas is also this: an altar within the heart where candles are lit for those who have left, whose light continues to guide us.

Let us learn, as they taught us, to love with all we have. To be loyal. To care for one another. To stay quiet when only companionship is needed. To find joy in simplicity. To be, in essence, a little more like them.

Sara, from your doggy heaven… Merry Christmas, my good girl! Thank you for continuing to watch over us. I carry you with me, in every chime of the bell, in every wish, in every moment of this magical night.

And to all of you: may this Christmas be one where you remember with love, live with presence, and allow yourselves to be guided by those who, even if they are not here, never truly leave us.
