Casi 50.000 personas en Instagram siguen el arte contemporáneo de Kevin Champeny. Este artista de Wisconsin, Estados Unidos, ha trabajado como escultor para grandes empresas como Warner Brothers, Disney, Lenox, Patron, Belvedere Vodka, Calvin Klein, Polo y DKNY. Incluso el propio Champeny afirma que creó "el modelo para el tazón de cereales que usaba el presidente Obama durante su mandato en la Casa Blanca".
Sin embargo, no fue hasta 2016, mientras trabajaba como mecánico en una empresa de aviación, cuando su arte fue descubierto y viralizado. Y no es de extrañar, ya que sus obras son grandes mosaicos que llaman la atención, pero que dejan sin palabras cuando te acercas, ya que entonces descubres que están fabricadas con miles de pequeñas piezas. Estas piezas van desde bombones de chocolate y osos de gominola, hasta pastillas, coches de juguete o flores.

However, it wasn't until 2016, while working as a mechanic for an aviation company, that his art was discovered and went viral. Not surprisingly, since his works are large mosaics that catch the eye, but leave you speechless when you get up close, as you then discover that they are made from thousands of small pieces. These pieces range from chocolate bonbons and gummy bears, to pills, toy cars or flowers.

Muchas de las colecciones de Kevin tienen una intención o un mensaje de crítica detrás, otras tienen un lado más tierno.
And although they are so realistic that they look authentic, they are pieces of urethane resin parts made by Kevin himself. When he starts a project, he designs all the small pieces he will need, creates the molds and makes thousands of pieces of different colors. Then he takes them out of the molds and begins the process of creating the mosaic.
The material is also quite flexible, so these are not works that break easily. Kevin works on several works at a time, and with each one he can be involved for six months to a year, which is understandable considering that his works can have up to 80,000 integrated pieces.
Many of Kevin's collections have a critical intention or message behind them, others have a more tender side.

When he does this, he expects the viewer to be able to use their life experiences and their own personal knowledge to surprise the viewer. He describes the process of sculpting as quite laborious, but it is this keen eye for detail that leads to some, as you can see, spectacular results.
The artist conducts lengthy research before making a decision on the objects he will use for each work. He does a search to find the different forms that will help the viewer to grasp what he is trying to express.
Once he has decided on the designs and with the help of photographs and drawings, the artist makes the molds of the pieces with different colors. Once he has the small sculptures, Kevin glues them together by hand, one by one, resulting in incredible works of art.
