Ayer me hablaron de una de las promesas de la moda portuguesa, se trata del joven diseñador Rúben Damásio que en la última edición de Moda Lisboa presentó la que se convirtió en la colección estrella de la Semana de la Moda Lusa. Aquí la tenéis, se llama “Rumspringa” y esta inspirada en el momento en que los jóvenes Amish se trasladan a la ciudad para explorar nuevas sensaciones.
Me chifla la esencia atrevida, urbana y moderna de la colección y los colores vivos por los que apuesta como el amarillo y el azul sin olvidarse de las raíces Amish y sus tonos más oscuros en negro, gris y beige. La colección utiliza fibras principalmente naturales, como el algodón, la lana y el cachemir con siluetas estilizadas. A partir de ahora estaré más atento a las propuestas de este joven diseñador portugués.
Inspired in the “Rumspringa”, which means “wander around”, this collection of Ruben Damasio portrays the time when young Amish, aged 16-21, break away from the community.
This is usually the time when youngsters move to a bigger city where they try to explore new sensations. Portrayed in the reality television series “Breaking Amish”, this is a controversial topic both inside and outside the community.
Those experiences in a daring, urban and modern environment add more knowledge and new values, which are represented in the collection by bold colors, such as yellow and blue. On the other hand, their past is represented by colors (black, grey and beige) that evoke a dry, dark scenario evidenced in their costumes. The collection uses mostly natural fibers, such as cotton, wool and cashmere.
Young fashion designer Rúben Damásio is our “One To Watch” designer from the Sangue Novo (Young Blood) section at ModaLisboa. He presented his new designs for this season and it is promising. I can not wait to see he how he will grow up. Well done.
