Lo siento. Si esperabais encontrar en este post recomendaciones de los mejores restaurantes, bares o discotecas de moda en Seúl creo que no soy el más indicado. Y es que no hay nada que me guste más que pasear con mi cámara por las calles de las ciudades donde viajo y, simplemente, retratar lo que veo.
Para mi es un privilegio vagar por estas calles repletas de anuncios de neón, puestos de comida y baratijas. Todo tiene algo de sorpresivo deleite. Entre los edificios de algunas áreas hay pequeños vericuetos, callejones en donde uno puede encontrarse un restaurante formidable o un bar a la usanza antigua.
Lo que más me gusta de la noche en Seúl es que eres invisible. No existes. Nadie te mira de frente, si acaso, a veces, descubres a transeúntes que te observan por el rabillo del ojo con curiosidad pero no van más allá de eso. Me encanta la sensación de profundo anonimato y de privilegiado observador.
Sorry. If you were hoping to find in this post some recommendations about the best restaurants, bars or trendy nightclubs in Seoul to go I think I'm not the best person to guide you. And there is nothing that I like more than walking with my camera through the streets of the cities where I travel and, simply, to portray what I see.
For me it is a privilege to wander through these streets full of neon signs, food stalls and trinkets. Everything has something of surprising delight. Among the buildings of some areas there are small twists, alleys where you can find a formidable restaurant or an old-fashioned bar.
What I like most about the night in Seoul is that you are invisible. Simply, you do not exist. Nobody looks at you, maybe you discover some passers-by who is watching you with curiosity but they do not go farther.
I love the feeling of profound anonymity and privileged observer.
Seúl tiene algo de Tokio, algo de Shanghai y mucho de sí misma. Se puede viajar a la capital de Corea del Sur por muchos motivos: buscando una sociedad joven y próspera, tecnología ( ya sabéis que es la cuna de Samsung y LG ) o un destino poco trillado. Todo son legítimos. Sin embargo, la excusa es la coartada más exótica.
Muchas calles están llenas de puestecitos de comida, músicos callejeros y de estudiantes y en otras no hay nadie. Sólo pequeñas tiendas de ultramarinos, restaurantes caseros y edificios de oficinas donde parece que se les olvidó apagar la luz cuando se fueron a sus casas.
Y si lo que quieres es comprar no vas a tener ningún tipo de problemas. Las tiendas están abiertas hasta altas horas de la noche. Una marca puede tener tres tiendas en la misma manzana y las personas entran en ellas y se llevan, sin pensar, diez mascarillas distintas para la cara.

Many streets are full of food stalls, street musicians and students and in others there is no one. Only small grocery stores, homemade restaurants and office buildings where it seems that they forgot to turn off the light when they went to their homes.
And if you want to go shopping, you will not have any problems. The stores are open until late at night. A brand can have three stores in the same block and people enter and take, without thinking, ten different face masks.
Dicen que la noche aquí en Seúl es vibrante, llena de propuestas de ocio y locales donde, seguro, lo vas a pasar estupendamente. A mi, desde hace mucho tiempo, el concepto noche como diversión dejó de interesarme.
A veces me descubro a mi mismo intentando ver por la noche lo que el día, con sus ruidos y sus prisas, no me dejó apreciar y, de repente, descubro una ciudad más relajada, más tranquila, donde el tiempo corre a su favor no en su contra.
Eso me pasó con Seúl. De noche enamora aún mas que de día.
They say that nightlife here in Seoul is vibrant, full of leisure activities and places where, for sure, you will have a great time. To me, for a long time, the concept of night as fun has no longer meaning.
Sometimes I find myself trying to see at night what the day, with its noises and its rush, did not let me appreciate and, suddenly, I discover a more relaxed and calmer city, where time runs in its favor not against it.
That happened to me with Seoul. At night I falls in love with it even more than during the day.
