Esa era la frase que me venía a la mente todo el rato el día en que me dedique en Los Angeles a hacer un Tour 100% hollywoodiense. Empecé por los estudios de la Paramount y a pesar de no considerarme un mitómano ( incluso iba un poco excéptico al tour) os tengo que confesar que allí me rendí a la evidencia y al final fue lo que más me gustó de mi estancia en la ciudad.
Y es que me encontraba dentro de la mayor fábrica de sueños del mundo. Los estudios de la Paramount son los únicos que aún funcionan a pleno rendimiento en pleno corazón de la ciudad, los otros ya cerraron o se han convertido en meros parques temáticos, por eso allí me creí que el sueño de Hollywood se puede hacer realidad.
Me encantó pasear por las falsas calles de New York, ver dónde se rodaron escenas de mi película favorita “Desayuno con Diamantes” o “Los 10 mandamientos”, comprobar que el coche rojo de “Grease” o las chaquetas de las “Pink Ladys” existen de verdad o que la nave tele transportadora de “Star Treck” es igualita a la que sale en la película. Así que Vivan Los Sueños que al final se hacen realidad.
That was the phrase that came to my mind all the time while visiting Paramount Studios in Los Angeles. I do not consider myself a mythomaniac (and I was even a bit skeptical about the tour) but I have to confess that I gave up the evidence there and at the end it was what I liked most about my stay in the LA. I believe it happened because I was inside the biggest dream factory in the world. The Paramount is the only Studio that is still working at full time in the heart of the city, the others have already closed or have become mere theme parks, that's why right there I truly believed that the Hollywood dream could come true.
I loved walking through the false streets of New York, see where scenes from my favorite movie "Breakfast with Diamonds" or "The Ten Commandments" were shot, checking that the red car of "Grease" or the jackets of the "Pink Ladys" really existed or that the "Star Treck" teleport ship is just like the one that appears in the movie. So Long Live The Dreams that can come true.
Como os dije al principio los estudios de la Paramount son los únicos que, como tales, aún funcionan en Hollywood por lo que durante la visita verás instalaciones que están operativas al 100%, de hecho desde allí se emiten programas de televisión en directo, se graban series y están los despachos de los directivos de la cadena.
Hay varias modalidades de tour, yo cogí uno de dos horas por todas los platós. Te meten en un carrito eléctrico con otras 9 personas y el guía empieza su ruta tanto fuera como dentro de los platós. Depende del día verás más o menos actividad; yo como fui un domingo por la mañana no vi mucha gente trabajando ( mejor dicho no vi a nadie trabajando) algo que me encantó así pude entrar en los platós o caminar por las “calles de New York” yo solito y sin coches.
Paramount Studios is the only remaining major studio left in Hollywood these days. It's also the longest-operating studio in general, still busy and fun to visit. They offer simple guided tours that accommodate eight visitors and one tour guide in an electric cart.
At Paramount, you'll see a working studio. They don't stage things just to entertain tours. In fact, the only thing that's for visitors is the museum.
Because of that, Paramount is a different experience every day. On the Paramount Tour, you'll see a working studio. Visitors sometimes get to visit sound stages and sets, but only when they are not being used. One thing you probably won't see on the Paramount tour is someone making a major movie. This studio produces television shows most of the time.
Con más de 100 años de vida, los estudios Paramount han visto pasar por sus puertas de la avenida Melrose a las más reconocidas figuras del mundo del entretenimiento. Nombres como Gloria Swanson, Rudolph Valentino y Clara Bow hicieron historia en los albores de la industria del cine de la mano de este gigante del cine.
Durante la década del treinta Paramount, de la mano de su fundador húngaro el visionario Adolph Zukor, supo convertirse en una verdadera fábrica cinematográfica cuyo producto final eran superproducciones vistas en todo el mundo. Supernovas de la talla de Marlene Dietrich, los hermanos Marx, Gary Cooper y hasta el mismísimo Carlos Gardel, formaron parte de algunos de los éxitos de taquilla de los icónicos estudios de filmación norteamericanos.
La buena racha ha continuado hasta nuestros días. La Paramount ha producido taquillazos mundiales como “Titanic”, la saga “Transformer” o “Star Treck”, “Indiana Jones”, “Iron Man”, “Forrest Gump” sin contar clásicos inolvidables como “El Crepúsculo de los Dioses”, “Desayuno con Diamantes”, “Love Story”, “El Padrino”, “Grease” o “Fiebre del Sábado Noche”, entre otras.
You may allow to see Paramount's private movie theater, where they hold premieres and screenings. If the shooting schedule allows it, you may get to go inside sound stages and see sets for shows. You might even see a star or two, but if you don't watch a lot of network television shows, you might not recognize them. Don't expect this to happen, just consider it a nice bonus if it does.
Paramount's property includes the old RKO/Desilu lot where the classic comedy I Love Lucy was produced. Lucy Park is a hit with its fans. The small, landscaped area looks just like Lucille Ball's Beverly Hills back yard and has a replica of her New York apartment, too — so she could take publicity photographs there with her children without ever having to leave the lot.
Other highlights on tour include Forrest Gump's bench and the Bronson Gate, where actor Charles Bronson got his name. It's also the place where Norma Desmond entered the lot in the 1950 film Sunset Boulevard.
You will also tour Paramount's extensive backlot, which is used for filming exterior scenes and includes sections that look like parts of New York and Chicago.
Una vez que salgáis de los estudios de la Paramount yo que vosotros continuaría la experiencia cinematográfica yendo al Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood. No os quiero desilusionar pero no os hagais muchas ilusiones sobre lo que vais a ver allí, nada que ver con lo que nos enseñan en la entrega de los Oscar ni nada parecido.
Lo que vereis es un montón de tiendas de todo a 100, sex shops, edificios abandonados, gente disfrazada de superheroes que cobran por foto y poco más. Merece la pena ir por ver las estrellas a lo largo del paseo, el Teatro Chino donde están las huellas de algunos actores de Hollywood y ya está.
Pero bueno, que nada os quite la experiencia de haber vivido por un día el sueño de Hollywood.
Once you leave the Paramount studios I would like you to continue the cinematic experience going to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I do not want to disappoint you but do not make many illusions about what you are going to see there, nothing to do with what they show us at the Oscars or anything like that. What you will see is a lot of cheap stuff stores , sex shops, abandoned buildings, people disguised as superheroes who charge for a photo and nothing more. It is worth going to see the stars along the Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theater where the tracks of some Hollywood actors are and that's it.
But hey, Don’t let anything take away the experience of having lived for a day the Hollywood dream.
