En 1999 Pedro Almodóvar daba a conocer el título de, por entonces, su nueva película “ Todo sobre mi madre” con un cártel diferente a los que nos tenía acostumbrado. Me llamó la atención el rostro afilado y puntiagudo de la mujer del póster con esos ojos grandes llenos de ternura.
Fue mi primera aproximación a la obra de Oscar Mariné y desde entonces lo sigo allá donde vaya.
Ahora, el que ha sido Premio Nacional de Diseño 2010, expone en la galería Blanca Berlín de Madrid “King for a day”, sus obras más personales que muestran su trabajo como autor independiente. Merece la pena
In 1999 Pedro Almodóvar announced the name of his new film at that time All About My Mother with a different billboard from the ones we were used to see. I was struck by the sharp and pointed face of the woman on that poster with those big eyes full of tenderness.
It was my first approach to the work of Oscar Mariné and from then I follow him wherever he goes.
Now, the National Design Prize in 2010, is exhibiting in Blanca Martin Gallery of Madrid "King for a day", his most personal works that show his work as an independent author. Worth to see it.
Como seguramente ya os habrá pasado a vosotros también es imposible dejar de mirar sus obras. En “ King for a day” Mariné nos ofrece su lado más emocional y muestra cuadros en los que las figuras ocupan todo el espacio con sus cabezas, como si quisieran seducirnos con esos enormes ojos, de tonos intensos, trazos firmes y bocas carnosas.
Obras que parecen grafittis o comics, muy cercanas al underground que por si solas parecen contarnos una historia y que al verlas todas juntas parecen relacionarse entre sí, adquiriendo un carácter más reflexivo.
As it may happen to to you it is also impossible to stop looking at his works. In "King for a day" Mariné is offering us his most emotional side and shows paintings in which the figures occupy all the space with their heads, as if they wanted to seduce us with those enormous eyes, intense tones, firm strokes and fleshy mouths.
Works that look like graffiti or comics, very close to the underground scenario that by itself seems to tell us a story and all together look like they are related between them, acquiring a more reflective character.
Y es que es muy probable que si le das un repaso a tu colección de discos te encuentres con alguna portada diseñada por Óscar Mariné. Lo mismo sucederá si lo que miras son tus películas favoritas. Incluso si lo tuyo es acumular revistas antiguas o carteles de festivales, no lo dudes, el trabajo del madrileño acabará apareciendo.
Su producción durante los últimos 30 años ha sido tan generosa –tanto cuantitativa como cualitativamente– en todos los ámbitos del diseño que es imposible no cruzarse con él en algún momento. Qué la disfrutéis.
I am sure if you review your record collection you will find a cover designed by Óscar Mariné. The same will happen if what you watch your favorite movies one more time. Even if you love collecting old magazines or posters of festivals, do not worry, the work of Mariné will end up appearing.
His works during the last 30 years has been so generous - both quantitatively and qualitatively - in many creative ways that it is impossible not to see it anywhere. So, enjoy it.
