No os asustéis. Esta semana han aparecido de la noche a la mañana en la Gran Vía madrileña, a los pies del edificio Metrópolis, unas cabezas gigantes y son muchas las personas que se están preguntando por redes sociales qué son o a qué pertenecen.
Las cabezas, cuatro en total, llaman muchísima la atención de los viandantes y están ahí por un motivo: forman parte de la VI edición de Urvanity Art Fair Madrid, una de las ferias de arte más sorprendentes e innovadoras de toda Europa.
Esta intervención artística es obra del escultor Samuel Salcedo y su intención es, según el propio autor "retratar la naturaleza enmascarada del ser humano".
Los pies del edificio Metrópoli no es el único espacio de la ciudad que albergará una acción artística. También las pantallas de la plaza de Callao serán el escenario de acogida de unas piezas de arte digital o hasta 110 marquesinas digitales repartidas por toda la ciudad servirán para mostrar animación 3D, motiongraphics o videoclips desarrollados por creadores contemporáneos como Cool 3D World u Oliver Latta. También el patio de la Fundación Reale (Castellana, 9-11) acoge las esculturas cinéticas del coreano Shinuk Suh.
Todo esto, y mucho más, es Urvanity Art Fair.
Do not panic. This week some giant heads suddenly showed up overnight on Madrid's Gran Vía, below the Metrópolis building, and many people are wondering on social networks what they are or what they belong to.
The heads, a total of four, are attracting a lot of attention from passers-by and they are there for a reason: they are part of the VI edition of Urvanity Art Fair Madrid, one of the most surprising and innovative art fairs in Europe.
This artistic intervention is the work of sculptor Samuel Salcedo and his intention is, according to the author himself, "to portray the masked nature of the human being".
The Metropoli building is not the only space in the city that will host an artistic action. Also the screens of the Plaza de Callao will be the stage to host some pieces of digital art or up to 110 digital canopies scattered throughout the city will serve to show 3D animation, motiongraphics or video clips developed by contemporary creators such as Cool 3D World or Oliver Latta. The courtyard of the Reale Foundation (Castellana, 9-11) will also host the kinetic sculptures of Korean Shinuk Suh.
All this, and much more, is Urvanity Art Fair.
Urvanity Art Fair se celebra conjuntamente con ARCO, la otra gran feria del arte de Madrid, pero UVNT es distinta; está especializada en arte digital y urbano y domina muy bien los nuevos lenguajes del arte.
Según su director, Sergio Sancho, "podríamos hacerla en otra época del año, pero durante esta semana se genera un momentum en la ciudad en el que la gente viene a la feria principal con una predisposición al arte que nos favorece. Nosotros ofrecemos un producto distinto, y por eso somos complementarios: apostamos por una creación muy actual y artistas de media carrera, aunque muchos de ellos triunfan ahora a nivel internacional”.

Urvanity Art Fair is held simultaneously with ARCO, the other major art fair in Madrid, but UVNT is different; it specializes in digital and urban art and has a very good command of new art languages.
According to its director, Sergio Sancho, "we could do it at another time of the year, but during this week a momentum is generated in the city in which people come to the main fair with a predisposition to art that favors us. We offer a different product, and that's why we are complementary: we bet on a very current creation and mid-career artists, although many of them are now triumphing at an international level".

Hay muchísimas propuestas pero os recomiendo la escena off del arte madrileño; una opción muy variada y dinámica. Y en este apartado hay que citar los espacios jóvenes que se han unido en un programa común llamado Quintos. Se organizarán varias visitas y recorridos el viernes 25 y el sábado 26 de febrero, lo que permitirá conocer, entre otras, las exposiciones de las galerías Pradiauto, El Chico, Arniches 26 o Intersticio, la única del grupo que participa este año en Arco (debuta en Opening, la sección más joven).

There are many different events, but I recommend the off scene of Madrid's art scene; a very varied and dynamic option. And in this section we must mention the young spaces that have joined together in a common program called Quintos. Several visits and tours will be organized on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26, which will allow to know, among others, the exhibitions of the galleries Pradiauto, El Chico, Arniches 26 or Intersticio, the only one of the group that participates this year in Arco (debuts in Opening, the youngest section).
