Me visto de blanco ( bueno, todo todo no) porque me voy de ruta de pueblos blancos por Andalucía. Esta ruta es la excusa perfecta para hacer turismo rural por el sur y conocer a fondo su cultura, naturaleza y gastronomía. Se trata de una de las más famosas rutas de Andalucía y está conformada por 20 preciosos pueblos con fachadas pintadas de cal blanca, donde ( creedme) se come de maravilla, se respira oxigeno puro y huele a flores por todas partes.
A mi me encanta Moguer, a tan sólo a 10 km de Huelva capital. Aparte de ser uno de los pueblos blancos más impresionantes que he visto en mi vida cuenta con otros 3 atractivos que poca gente conoce; aquí nació el Premio Nobel de Literatura, Juan Ramón Jiménez, estuvo Cristobal Colón antes de partir al nuevo continente y es el mayor productor de fresas del Europa.
Vamos, que tienes que conocer Moguer.

I love Moguer, only 10 km from Huelva capital. Apart from being one of the most impressive white villages I have seen in my life, it has 3 other attractions that few people know; Here was born the Nobel Prize for Literature, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Christopher Columbus was here before leaving for the new continent and it is the largest producer of strawberries in Europe. Come on, you have to know Moguer.
No es la primera vez que visito este precioso pueblo. Adoro perderme por sus calles, hacer una parada para tomar un café (y un pastel) en la confitería La Victoria, fotografiar una y mil veces la maravillosa Calle Andalucía en pleno centro del pueblo, sentarme en un banco de la Plaza de las Monjas para ver pasar gente y terminar degustando alguna de las exquisitas tapas del Mesón El Lobito.
Todo envuelto en un ambiente relajado, tranquilo y lleno de olores a frutales, rosas y jazmines. Cuando vayas a Moguer simplemente te aconsejo que disfrutes del momento y te olvides del reloj. Cuando lo consigas sabrás de lo que te estoy hablando.
I have to admit that this is not the first time I visit this beautiful town. I love getting lost in its streets, making a stop to have a coffee (and a cake) at La Victoria, photographing the wonderful Andalusia Street a thousand and one times in the center of town, sitting on a bench in Plaza de las Monjas to watch people go by and finish tasting some of the exquisite tapas at El Lobito Inn.
All wrapped in a relaxed, quiet atmosphere full of scents of fruit, roses and jasmine. When you go to Moguer I simply suggest you to enjoy the moment and forget the clock. When you get it you'll know what I'm talking about.
Juan Ramón Jiménez, el autor del inmortal “Platero y yo” es, sin duda alguna, el moguereño más ilustre y todo en las calles de esta bellísima población así lo recuerda. La memoria del genial autor está presente en cada rincón y es el mejor hilo conductor a la hora de preguntarse qué ver en Moguer. Por si fuera poco, la localidad también está ligada íntimamente al Descubrimiento de América.
En su puerto, se construyó la carabela La Niña. Además, Cristóbal Colón pasó en varias ocasiones por Moguer, lugar en el que nacieron los hermanos Pedro Alonso y Juan Niño, dos piezas claves en la conquista del nuevo mundo. Por este motivo es uno de los denominados Lugares Colombinos y por tanto luce con orgullo el peso de la historia.

No sé si sabéis que Washington Irving visitó Moguer en 1828 con la intención de ver los lugares donde se gestó la azaña de Cristobal Colón y lo registró todo en un diario.
Al escritor norteamericano le encantó el lugar y, casi sin saberlo, se convirtió en el primer turista que pisó estas tierras y que, según se refleja en las paginas de su diario, pudo comprobar la belleza de la zona.
Si Irving tuviese la oportunidad de volver otra vez, no creo que encontrase Moguer excesivamente cambiado. Puede que con un poco de más ajetreo, pero en esencia el mismo.
