They'll ask where you're from, recommend their favourite bar, and if they see you with a map, they won't hesitate to offer directions. That genuine friendliness is exactly what makes Wellington such a huge surprise within an already surprising country.

Because New Zealand is nature, yes, but it's also this: a small capital with a big-town feel, where culture breathes in every alleyway, where street art rivals any museum, and where a stroll down Cuba Street can become the best experience of your trip.
