Cuando entras en Pan y Pepinillos (calle del Escorial, 2) parece que el tiempo se ha detenido por un momento y todo vuelve a ser como antes. Un momento de paz y tranquilidad para disfrutar de un café de especialidad y de una repostería riquísima y 100% artesanal.
¿Y qué tiene de especial este coffee-shop? Pues un excelente café propio, una repostería de infarto y, sobre todo, un lugar único en Madrid que pretende ser encuentro para los amantes de la artesanía y el arte en general.
Detrás de este artesano y genuino café se encuentra la firma de Marta de Miguel y Javier Sánchez Medina, el gran príncipe del bambú, el mimbre, el ratán o la fibra, Premio Madrid Craft Week en 2021.
Él mismo se ha ocupado del diseño y decoración de esta antigua tienda de ultramarinos (incluso ha traído hasta aquí algunos de los cuadros que lucían en la cocina de su casa), así como de seleccionar los proveedores que hacen de Pan y Pepinillos una dirección más que recomendable para cualquier momento del día.
When you arrive at Pan y Pepinillos (Calle del Escorial, 2) it seems that time has stopped for a moment and everything goes back to the way it was before. A moment of peace and calm to enjoy a specialty coffee and a delicious and 100% handmade pastry.

Behind this artisan and genuine coffee is the signature of Marta de Miguel and Javier Sanchez Medina, the greatest prince of bamboo, wicker, rattan or fiber, Madrid Craft Week Award in 2021.
He has himself taken care of the design and decoration of this former grocery store (he has even brought here some of the paintings that were displayed in the kitchen of his house), as well as selecting the suppliers that make Pan y Pepinillos a highly recommended place to go at any time of the day.
Si la decoración del coffee shop es única y peculiar sus productos no podían ser menos. El equipo de Café Angélica ha creado en exclusiva para Pan y Pepinillos un blend con aroma y sabor únicos, de esos que atemperan cuerpo y alma a partes iguales. Un café que querrás acompañar con alguno de las cookies, bizcochos caseros croissants o tostadas del riquísimo pan que hacen George y Val en Santo Bakehouse, y en breve ofrecerán sándwiches muy ricos. Todos ellos son artesanos de lo suyo y están a unas calles del café.
La apuesta por los productos 100% artesanos y ecológicos es una de las señas de identidad de este espacio. De ahí su alianza con El Súper de los Pastores, el mercado eco de carácter solidario que provee de chocolates, vinos eco o cerveza de pequeños productores nacionales a este coffee shop que está llamado a ser todo un icono de Malasaña.
If the coffee shop's decoration is unique and peculiar, so are the products. The Café Angélica team has created exclusively for Pan y Pepinillos a blend with a unique aroma and flavor, one of those that temper body and soul in equal parts. A coffee that you will want to accompany with some of the cookies, homemade biscuits, croissants or toasts of the delicious bread made by George and Val in Santo Bakehouse, and soon they will offer very tasty sandwiches. All of them are artisans of their own and they are just a few streets away from the café.
The commitment to 100% artisan and organic products is one of the hallmarks of this space. That is why it has an alliance with El Súper de los Pastores, the eco market of solidarity that provides chocolates, eco wines or beer from small national producers to this coffee shop that is destined to become an icon of Malasaña.
Tanto la fachada, con ventanal y puertas de madera, como el mobiliario del interior, adquirido a anticuarios del Rastro y tiendas legendarias de la capital poco antes de que cerraran definitivamente sus puertas, incitan a pensar que el café lleva décadas instalado en Malasaña pero nada más lejos de la realidad ya que abrieron hace tan sólo unos pocos meses.
Sus pocos metros cuadrados dan para mucho. Un rincón sin más pretensiones que disfrutar de un buen café, una buena repostería y todo arropado con gusto por lo clásico, lo doméstico, por lo hecho por las propias manos.

Neither the façade, with its large window and wooden doors, nor the furniture inside, acquired from antique dealers in the Rastro and legendary stores in the capital shortly before they closed their doors for good, suggest that the café has been in Malasaña for decades, but nothing could be further from the truth, since they opened only a few months ago.
The small square meters are enough for a lot. A place with no other pretensions than to enjoy a good coffee, a good pastry and all of this wrapped with a taste for the classic, the domestic, for what is made by one's own hands.
